Job Summary

Performs as a consultant with in-depth knowledge, technical ability (systems and methodology) and experience in compensation. Consults with clients to analyze the design of work in the division/department, create job family and advise on workforce planning. Works with the Director, Compensation and Benefits to develop organization-wide compensation policies and practices. Responsible for analysis and reporting on compensation metrics to prepare recommendations for action by the senior leaders.

Essential Responsibilities

Workforce Planning Consultation

  • Works with clients to advise on workforce planning based on the needs of the organization and the appropriate design of work flow.
  • Consults with and advises  clients on the most appropriate design of jobs and alignment of responsibilities into job family profiles.

Compensation Plan Governance

  • Works with HR Leadership in the facilitation of meetings and presentations to the Compensation Advisory Committee.
  • Serves as a key member of the Compensation Design Committee.

Policy and Procedure Development

  • Participates in the development, administration and maintenance of Compensation related policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State laws/regulatory requirements and alignment with internal policies, procedures and culture.

Re-organization Consultation

  • Serves as a key member for the re-organization consultation team to assist the organization with major changes and re-organizations.
  • Acts as a Subject Matter Experts (SME) in the areas of workforce planning, workflow design and definition of positions.

Coaching and Partnering/Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with other HR teams on design, policy development, guidelines and implementation of key compensation programs and actively participate in roll out of company-wide compensation initiatives and programs.
  • Acts as coach to Compensation Analysts on the team.
  • Pro-actively partners with key stakeholders in HR, IT and Finance (and other departments as appropriate) in planning and managing change process when there are changes to compensation programs and/or policies, ensuring alignment across functions and awareness of all upstream and downstream impacts.

Position Requirements

Minimum Qualifications - An equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute for the requirements listed.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources, Business or a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated experience in compensation or related field.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of employment and labor laws and regulations related to compensation and job design.
  • Demonstrates an advanced level of understanding of the theories and principles of internal and external market analysis.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the broader business implications of decisions.
  • Demonstrates an expert ability to consult with clients regarding workforce planning activities.
  • Experience in identifying and resolving systemic issues related to workforce planning, job design or compensation analysis.
  • Strong oral and written skills to prepare comprehensive and clear written documents, presentations and policies.
  • Training and/or work experience guiding and consulting with individuals, managers and senior leaders.
  • Strong analytical skills needed to review statistical results to make practical and meaningful recommendations.
  • Excellent working knowledge of technology and proficiency in the use of HR Systems (Wokday preferred) spreadsheet, word processing, data management, and presentation applications.
  • Excellent organization and time management skills to manage competing priorities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with HR Systems with compensation process functionality such as Workday (preferred), Ultipro or PeopleSoft.
  • Currently recognized as a Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) by WorldatWork.

Physical and Mental Requirements

  • Frequently sits, perform desk-based computer tasks and grasp light or fine manipulation, talk or hear.
  • Occasionally stand and/or walk, write by hand, and lift and/or carry, push and/or pull objects that weigh up to 10 pounds.
  • Rarely twist, bend, stoop, squat, kneel, crawl, climb, reach or work above shoulder, or grasp forcefully.

Working Conditions (including Environmental Conditions)

  • This position may involve traveling to various locations, including neighbor islands to conduct business.
  • Work is conducted in an office environment and may require work to be conducted in non-standard workplaces.
  • Work is typically conducted Monday through Friday at normal business hours.

Based on the compensation range provided below, salaries are commensurate with job-related experience, skills and competencies, education, internal equity, length of work year, and other organizational needs.
