Kelly Scientific is working with an established producer of high quality and revolutionary lipid products used in pharma drug delivery. They are seeking a Project Manager with a proven track record in innovation, who can drive the successful delivery of pharmaceutical innovation projects related to novel excipients, adjuvants, and lipids. Your role will be to coordinate and drive project teams across the organization to ensure the successful delivery of innovation projects aligned with business and market demands. 

TITLE: Project Manager – Innovation
LOCATION: Alabaster, AL
SALARY: $120-140,000 (negotiable)


RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Responsible for driving the entire lifecycle of a defined number of priority innovation projects; from justification, scoping to planning, though implementation, and completion.  
  • Collaborate with project team(s) to define project requirements, scope, potential risks and mitigations, technical prerequisites, and necessary capital investments. Ensure the identified requirements are well-documented, and updated consistently to reflect changes as the project progresses. 
  • Accountable for comprehensive project plans that include detailed timelines, key milestones, and clearly defined roles and responsibilities to ensure the successful delivery of project scopes. 
  • Use established methods and cost tracking tools to monitor and control project expenditures. 
  • Ensure successful completion of projects by utilizing management tools, like the stage gate process, to efficiently manage project teams within the defined scope. 
  • Encourage creativity and innovation by questioning traditional working methods, thinking, and decision-making. Embrace diverse perspectives and ideas to pave new and unique paths to success. 
  • Create a positive and supportive environment for the team to stay motivated and inspired throughout the project journey. Encourage celebrating successes and failures equally and foster a culture of learning from both to implement effective strategies for future projects. 
  • Identify and assess risks associated with the projects and subsequently engage with key project stakeholders to develop and implement effective mitigation measures.  
  • Establish a framework that includes regular reviews and updates of all project-related materials.  
  • Maintain a high level of project governance to ensure that all vital project documents, presentations, and information are updated. This will help reflect the project's true goal and status at any given time.  

REQUIREMENTS: 
  • Possesses a strong understanding and proven track record of using project management principles, methodologies, and tools to manage and drive innovation projects such as new product launches. 
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in project management, preferably gained at a life sciences company focused on novel excipient, drug substance and/or drug product development. 
  • Familiarity with Agile, Kanban, and Six Sigma methodologies preferred. 
  • Degree/MSc qualified in a technical discipline (Chemistry, Biology, Chemical Engineering etc.).
  • Having a Project Management Professional (PMP)® Certification from PMI is desired. 
  • Having a thorough grasp of project governance and risks, while simultaneously seeking ways to enhance the culture of project management through identification of opportunities for improvement. 
  • Ability to work with a diverse team with differing backgrounds/disciplines. 
  • Strong interpersonal skills to successfully motivate and lead individuals and teams who are not under your direct supervision. 
  • Exceptional communication skills and the flexibility to engage with individuals at varying levels of the organization. 
  • Ability to plan multiple activities with competing priorities.
