The Leonardo DRS Land Electronics business provides C4I Network computing and integrated situational awareness, as well as state-of-the-art embedded diagnostics, vehicle power management and combat vehicle integration products and services.

Job Summary

This position is principally intended to lead a significant program that involves the production and delivery of hardware systems and fielding services to support a DoD agency. The contract includes the manufacture, and the procurement of various types of combat hardware, provisioning for warehousing, fielding, and providing engineering services to support a US Govt customer. The hardware will be manufactured, inspected, staged, and delivered in accordance with Government Technical Data Packages (TDPs) and contract requirements. The management of the project will require leading both direct and matrixed assigned personnel to ensure proper methods/processes are followed to track program cost, schedules and performance across the program. Provide interface, communication and coordination with internal and external customers on matters pertaining to the contract and potentially lead follow on bid and proposal activities. 
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible as Program Manager in Tactical Systems Market area which includes delivering ruggedized computing products and associated lifecycle support capabilities.
  • This position will be required to work closely with Business Unit Leadership, Business Development, Engineering, Operations and Sub Contracting.
  • As Program Manager, will ensure project execution via integrated product team approach (kickoff through project close)
  • Prepare for and participate in contract/subcontract negotiations. While representing Company's interests, assure that all government regulatory guidance is adhered to.
  • Formally identifies, assesses, monitors and mitigates risk throughout the program life cycle. Obtains management approval prior to making decisions that will cause deterioration of established program, cost and schedule objectives.
  • Develop and implement recovery plans for yellow and red programs (i.e., schedule, technical performance) and corrective action plans when deviations from budgets and/or schedules are evident.
  • Perform variance analyses of schedule and cost on a formal and informal basis and present them to senior management 
  • Serve as the primary interface with the customer on all matters involving contract execution. Coordinate with Contracts Administration on issues pertaining to contract requirements, changes, and interpretations.
  • Lead monthly Program reviews 
  • Potentially, manage development/obsolescence projects, 
  • Understand cash flow management principles
  • Support, communicate, reinforce and defend the mission, values and culture of the organization
     
Qualifications
  • Engineering or business degree required. Master's degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of program management experience in aerospace/defense industry or relevant equivalent
  • Candidate Full Life Cycle project/program management experience preferred.
  • PMP or DAU Level 3 certification is preferred, along with advanced knowledge of program management tools and procedures. 
  • Must have significant experience with proposal development, requirements decomposition, and generation of WBS', WBS dictionaries, statements of work, subcontracts, risk management, and continuous process improvement methodologies.  Formal capture management experience and training is preferred.
  • Must have effective leadership and management skills, along with excellent presentation skills.  Experience with cost accounting, reporting, and metrics for assessing and reporting program progress, productivity and variance analysis is required.
  • Must possess excellent customer interface skills
  • Must have demonstrated success in managing manpower planning, project reviews, scheduling and budget control
  • Must have a history managing a portfolio of programs in which financial objectives (profit, cash flow, revenue,) were achieved
  • Prefer experience with turnaround programs in which recovery was successful
