Title and Summary

Lead Database Engineer SessionM, a Mastercard Company, is a customer engagement platform empowering global brands to forge stronger and more profitable customer relationships. We partner with brands to drive marketing transformation through innovative technology and services. We are headquartered in Boston with offices around the world including Prague.

Overview:

Provide RDMS support for MasterCard Applications. Guides and provides direction for MasterCard's use of best practices and application database solutions. Reviews new tools and products that assist Data Architecture (DA) in providing database support and services.

Role

•Requires very little supervision while identifying task associated with responsibilities.
•Leads in creating all departmental policies and best practices.
•Provides leadership by mentoring junior DBAs and by leading internal projects and initiatives.
•Provide DBA oversight and helps set direction for department strategy. •Properly identifies tasks available for delegation and provides follow-up.
•Technology Selection and Development:
- Identify and select appropriate database technologies, including associated software products.
- Develop, build, and maintain database solutions, ensuring they align with organizational needs.
• SQL Tuning and Query Optimization:
- Collaborate with development teams to create efficient SQL tuning statement procedures.
- Optimize SQL queries to enhance overall database performance.
• Database Implementation and Standards:
- Assist in database implementations, ensuring adherence to configuration, process, and procedure standards.
- Contribute to maintaining a robust and consistent database environment.
• Database Security and Risk Mitigation:
- Support database security posture by escalating potential concerns.
- Implement risk mitigation plans and control functions to safeguard data.
• Status Reporting and Troubleshooting:
- Draft and review status reports related to database activities.
- Perform troubleshooting and implementation tasks as needed.
• Technical Assistance and Performance Optimization:
- Provide high-level technical assistance to development programmers and end-users.
- Formulate recommendations to enhance database performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.

•Database Technology Exposure:
- Proficiency in MSSQL database technology along with additional knowledge in MySQL and PostgreSQL
- Cloud-based database services Amazon RDS (Amazon Aurora is a plus)
•Database Architecture and Testing:
- Experience designing and testing database architecture standards or frameworks.
- Ability to optimize database structures for performance.
•Automation and Cloud Delivery:
- Exposure to automation tools and cloud deployment (AWS, Azure, etc.).
- Participation in global technology domains or sub-domains.
•Community Engagement:
Active participation in business resource groups and global communities.
