Title and Summary

Lead DevOps Engineer We see DevOps as a collection of philosophies, practices and tooling that enable the quick delivery of high-quality software. An ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and a desire to continuously improve their own skills and the people around them. Together, you will be part of a high performing team who work together to deliver complex projects through agile methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of our tooling and processes that build, test and release our Immediate Payment Services and supporting services.
• Help drive our engineering culture through mentoring, assisting peers and a relentless focus on developer experience.
• Help set the technical direction in developing our next generation of products and processes using open-source technologies, cloud services and internal tooling. You can see an example of this in one of our technical blogs https://developer.mastercard.com/blog/solo-and-groovy-jenkins/
• Lead and participate in architectural design reviews, troubleshooting, pair programming and supporting related teams.
• Provide fourth line support to production operations teams. Exceptional and pre-approved on-call support may be required.

Experiences & Skills

Essential

• Strong experience across the full SDLC
• Strong experience with CI/CD pipelines and associated tooling such as Jenkins
• Strong experience with scripting languages such as Python, Groovy and Bash and an appreciation of Object-oriented programming (OOP)
• Strong experience in a cloud-based environment (e.g. AWS, Azure, Google Cloud)
• Strong knowledge of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) automation tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation
• Strong knowledge of configuration management tools such as Ansible, Chef, Puppet
• Strong experience & hands on knowledge of Unix/Linux
• Strong experience with Git version control, branching strategies, dependency management (e.g. Maven)
• Strong experience using critical thinking to solve a range of technical challenges. Embody the “managers of one” attribute
• Knowledge of at least one RDBMS (e.g. Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL) and messaging middleware

Desirable

• Experience with automated test infrastructure
• Experience with static code analysis & security scanning pipelines and associated tooling
• Experience designing and implementing centralised monitoring solutions including logging, monitoring, alerting
• Experience of Java (Spring Boot)
• Experience with building zero downtime solutions, including blue/green deployments
