General Summary of Position
Performs all finance and accounting role responsibilities for the department, as directed. Performs cost center and account code manual and automated transactions as well as other financial administrative matters.


Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develops department goals, objectives, policies, and procedures. Ensures compliance with business unit policies and procedures and governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Develops and recommends department operating budget and manages resources according to approved budget.
  • Selects, trains, orients, and assigns department staff. Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance, and conducts performance management planning. Initiates or makes recommendations for personnel actions. Maintains ongoing communication with subordinates to review programs, provide feedback, discuss new developments, and exchange information.
  • Prepares the departmental financial transaction forms and reconciles documents to CSR.
  • Reviews and analyzes financial documents for accuracy and completeness. Maintains and develops financial records in a neat and orderly user-friendly system within finance office.
  • Completes appropriate financial reports for internal requirements and external obligations.
  • Assists in planning and developing operational plans and budgets including reporting and interpreting data for senior managers.
  • Maintains manual and automated accounting records for designated accounts and cost centers including but not limited to: faculty profit and loss statements, overhead expense allocation, space allocations, faculty charges and collections and IDX reports by developing appropriate spreadsheets logs or journals.
  • Maintains time and payroll related forms and system updates.
  • Reviews monthly and yearly expenses for accuracy and completeness.
  • Develops, recommends and implements strategies for expense reductions and revenue enhancements, in coordination with the Administrator.
  • Plans and prepares reports including monthly variance of actual to budget reports and accrual report.
  • Develops and maintains a system for routine accounting functions and timely account payable processes for designated cost centers and account codes.
  • Participates in obtaining financial authorization for transplants.
  • Serves as resource to Account Representatives and assists them as necessary/needed.
  • Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies, procedures, quality standards, and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
  • Participates in meetings and on committees and represents the department and business unit in community outreach efforts.
  • Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams and maintains effective working relationships with other departments.


  • Minimum Qualifications
    Education

    • BA/BS degree in Business, Finance, Accounting required or
    • related field. required
    • CONSIDERATION WILL BE GIVEN TO AN APPROPRIATE COMBINATION OF EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE. required

    Experience

    • 1-2 years 2 years of comparable financial/administrative experience required and
    • Previous experience with financial reconciliations, spreadsheets, and budgets. required

    Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

    • Knowledge of Windows, WP, Excel and Access, with particular emphasis as it relates to spreadsheet software, data searches, etc.
    • Excellent written and oral communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to produce reports/data in an accurate and timely manner.
    • Good planning and organizational skills.
    • Ability to establish priorities and ability to maintain confidentiality.
    • Ability to deal effectively and professionally with a variety of persons.
