Retro Studios Founded in 1998, Retro Studios is a wholly owned subsidiary of Nintendo Company, Ltd.  Retro is a state-of-the-art game development studio, working in conjunction with Nintendo to bring award-winning games to Nintendo's cutting-edge next-generation platforms.  Retro Studios is located in beautiful Austin, Texas.   We are seeking an individual with a solid technical grasp of interactive game audio to contribute to our ongoing project, Metroid Prime 4. This role requires a blend of technical proficiency and a deep understanding of gameplay mechanics, with an emphasis on leveraging these aspects to enrich the player's experience.
As a member of our team, you will be responsible for the full spectrum of audio development, from initial concept to production, and ultimately testing and approving systems for final release. Successful candidates will possess excellent communication skills, meticulous attention to detail, and the ability to collaborate effectively across various disciplines, driving concepts to tangible outcomes.
  DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:
  • Work with Audio Team to develop and maintain audio integration systems and workflows.
  • Work with Design Team to support their technical audio needs.
  • Integrate music into the game using interactive techniques and principles.
  • Define and maintain a set of standards and test cases for technical audio systems and integration.
  • Document new systems and create documentation for systems that lack any current documentation.
  • Work with engineers to develop and test new engine systems and workflow improvements.
  • Work with designers to support their gameplay goals with specific audio integration methods.

Qualifications

  SUMMARY OF REQUIREMENTS
  • Understanding of how audio can enhance gameplay experiences.
  • Undergraduate degree in music, sound design, audio engineering or other related fields
  • Experienced in integrating audio into a game or other interactive product.
  • Experienced in integrating music using interactive music techniques.
  • Experienced with standard tools for sound or music creation, editing and implementation.
