Position Summary:

Our IT Service Management team's focus is operational excellence as we continue our journey from a reactive to a proactive posture.   We are looking for a technologist who has a keen sense of customer service and collaboration to join our NOC.  If you are an IT first responder who is an expert analyst, problem solver and troubleshooter, you are a prime candidate.  Join us and be a dedicated representative of NRECA's Service Excellence model by providing the highest level of support to our members, colleagues, and partners in your day-to-day interactions. Onsite in Arlington, VA on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 1:30pm-11:30pm
 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Provides 1st level technical support for mainframe, server, software, and hardware while monitoring all environments for application and service health. 

·         Performs analysis on systems data (CPU performance, space availability, etc.) reports findings, and recommends improvements to senior engineer.

·         Diagnoses, resolves or escalates incidents.

·         Answers after hours help desk calls, assisting customers with software installations, password resets, and connectivity to NRECA network.

·         Monitors the NRECA mainframe and network production environments and resolves or escalates problems as necessary to on call IT personnel.

·         Verifies that all applicable production applications are available and production schedules/processes execute successfully on all platforms as required per documentation.

·         Creates and maintains detailed documentation of production schedules/jobs/processes for IT.

Qualifications

Formal Education Required:

High School/GED and/or Technical Diploma/Certificate
 

Experience and Certifications Required:

2+ years Operations experience in a multi-vendor data center desired.

2+ years proven experience with cross platform scheduling packages desired, such as Control M, JobTrac, CA Scheduler

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required (as demonstrated by prior work experience):

  • Ability to provide service excellence by building relationships, being resourceful, responsive and respectful.
  • Proven technical background of open system architectures preferred.
  • Demonstrates excellent troubleshooting, analytical skills and problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrates initiative, is conscientious, and provides complete follow-through on all areas of responsibility.
  • A commitment to learning with the ability to adapt to change.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and motivates and trains team members.
  • Ability to communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse membership, employees and/or vendors in a clear and precise manner.

Essential Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal and extensive reading.
  • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
