Ocala Health encompasses Ocala Regional Medical Center, a 256-bed facility located in the heart of Ocala, and West Marion Community Hospital, a 174-bed hospital located in west Marion County, Summerfield ER, a freestanding emergency department located in southern Marion County, and Maricamp ER, a freestanding emergency department located on Maricamp Road in Ocala. Ocala Regional Medical Center is a Level II Trauma Center and a Comprehensive Stroke Center. The hospitals offer a host of other quality and award winning services including orthopedic care and joint replacement, robotic surgery, cardiac and vascular services including open heart surgery and interventional procedures, emergency, neurological and rehabilitation services, and bariatric surgery. Ocala Health has the only Commission on Cancer approved cancer center in Marion County. Ocala Health's outpatient facilities include Family Care Specialists, a primary care network of six locations throughout Marion County; Advanced Imaging Centers; a freestanding Wound and Hyperbaric Center; a Senior Wellness Community Center; and three surgical and physician specialty practices.


POSITION SUMMARY:

Position is approximately 40 hours/week.

 

The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for the implementation and ongoing monitoring of the infection prevention and control programs for healthcare system/facility. Implementation is accomplished through performing surveillance, consultation and education regarding prevention and control activities under the direction of the infection prevention director or manager and the physician epidemiologist. The Infection Prevention coordinator serves as an internal consultant in regards to data collection, analysis, reporting and team facilitation in relation to improving patient outcomes related to health care associated infections and infectious diseases. The Infection Prevention Coordinator is responsible for coordination, facilitation and leadership of infection prevention and control activities related to patient and health care worker safety and quality/performance improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate from an accredited school of Nursing, BSN preferred
    • Florida RN license required (or appropriate compact license).
    • 1 year infection control and 3 years clinical nursing experience required
    • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred, or certify when eligible.
  • Will also consider medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or Master's degree in Public Health or Epidemiology.
    • Must have appropriate licensure for profession
    • Must have a minimum of 2 years acute care hospital and Infection Control experience required.
    • Certification in Infection Prevention and Control preferred, or certify when eligible.
