Job Summary

The VP of Financial Operations is an integral part of the leadership team and is expected to participate in the financial and functional decision making progresses necessary for the successful attainment of operational and financial goals. The VP provides strategic and operational leadership for all Financial Services activities, to ensure the delivery of high quality, mission driven and cost effective health care. The position will play a key role in directing the analysis and interpretation of financial information and all related activities: supports the completion of strong business plans, forecasts, operational and capital budgets; evaluates alternative courses of actions and ensures that the operations are performing effectively and efficiently based on budgets and established benchmarks.

Accountabilities

  • Be accountable and use the system-wide standardized financial systems and structures, including long range financial plans, rolling forecasts, operational and capital budgets, financial reporting, accounting, reimbursement, payroll, and policies and procedures to assure the value of the system is maximized. - 10%
  • Provide review, analysis and recommendations for contemplated third party arrangements, including major master service agreements, joint ventures and business acquisitions.  – 10%
  • Monitor the financial performance and financial position of the organization to identify variances and key trends that could affect Prisma Health's financial viability.  Review key financial and utilization information in order to facilitate timely operating adjustments when necessary. Implement standards and procedures for financial planning and reporting for operations consistent with Prisma Health practices and objectives.  - 20%
  • Be accountable, support, and collaborate with system shared services and other system provided functions such as supply chain, revenue cycle, accounting, etc. – 10%
  • Provide leadership to ensure the overall Finance role is understood in the organization. Communicate clearly, regularly and effectively with all levels and functions of the organization to create an atmosphere of mutual respect, openness and encouragement. Provide strategic and operational leadership of all Financial Services activities for the Affiliate and joint ventures to ensure that forecasts, budgets, and strategic initiative goals are met.  – 10%
  • Provide strategic leadership by focusing team and organization units on visions and distinctive strategies in the development, implementation and evaluation of the delivery system.  In collaboration with Prisma Health finance guidelines, administer strategies and goals for the integration and consolidation of financial, accounting, and related function for operations.  Identify opportunities for greater efficiencies and reduced expenses.  – 10%
  • Develop and implement strategies and programs that enhance and maximize the financial performance of operations. In collaboration with the Prisma Health business development team, exercise a lead role in the development and implementation or elimination of services and lines of business, and Collaborate and engage with leaders across the system to share best practices and lead implementation of system initiatives.  – 20%
  • Responsible for leading and prioritizing projects for development and implementation of long term solutions for financial data to support strategic goals and gain efficiencies in the organization.  Determines how best to use existing data analytics, architecture, and technology, and where to make improvements.  – 5%
  • Oversee the implementation of a proper suite of technology applications designed to facilitate the financial and capital planning/budgeting/rolling forecast processes in conjunction with Information Systems.  – 5%

Supervisory/Management Responsibilities

Job has direct and/or indirect supervision of team members that may include final budget authority, hire/termination authority, performance appraisal responsibility and disciplinary authority. Job will be considered a member of management staff at Prisma Health or affiliate and will have direct reports.

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree - Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Business or Finance
  • 5 years - In a health system financial executive role

Required Certifications, Registrations, Licenses

  • CPA - Preferred

Required Knowledge & Skills

  • Basic computer skills
  • Knowledge of office equipment (fax/copier)
  • Proficient computer skills including word processing and spreadsheet
