Description

Rochester General Hospital, part of Rochester Regional Health, is seeking a compassionate and skilled Emergency General Surgeon to join our dedicated team. As an Emergency General Surgeon, you will play a vital role in providing urgent surgical care to patients presenting with acute surgical conditions in our emergency department and hospital. Responsibilities:

  • Perform emergency surgical procedures to treat acute conditions such as appendicitis, cholecystitis, pancreatitis, ischemic bowel, bowel obstruction, soft tissue infections, trauma, and other surgical emergencies.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of patients presenting with surgical complaints in the emergency department, including history-taking, physical examination, and diagnostic investigations.
  • Collaborate closely with surgical specialists, hospitalists, emergency department physicians, anesthesiologists, nurses, APPs, and other healthcare professionals to provide integrated and compassionate care to patients.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and consultations to discuss patient management plans and ensure optimal treatment strategies aligned with our shared values of being rooted in our community, serving as one, caring like family, and embracing tomorrow, today.
  • Provide timely and accurate documentation of patient assessments, treatment plans, and procedures in electronic medical records.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in surgical techniques, including open and minimally invasive approaches, to address diverse surgical pathologies.
  • Actively participate in quality improvement initiatives and patient safety protocols to enhance the delivery of emergency surgical care.
  • Stay updated on advancements in emergency general surgery through continuing medical education, conferences, and peer-reviewed literature.
  • Contribute to the education and training of medical students, PAs, NPs, residents, and fellows through clinical supervision, mentorship, and didactic teaching sessions.
  • Participate in the system approach to care delivery within the RRH Surgery Service Line.

Qualifications:

  • Medical degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or eligibility in General Surgery.
  • Completion of a residency training program in General Surgery.
  • Fellowship training or significant experience in Emergency General Surgery preferred.
  • Valid medical license and unrestricted ability to practice medicine in New York State the designated jurisdiction.
  • Excellent clinical skills with a proven track record of managing surgical emergencies effectively.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, professionalism, and continuous quality improvement.
  • Ability to adapt to high-pressure situations and make sound clinical decisions in emergent settings.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and flexible scheduling as needed.

Compensation Information:
$400000.0 / Annually - $400000.0 / Annually
Details:
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
