Summary

As an Energy Sector Transportation Analyst, you will be a vital member of the logistics and supply chain team within an energy company. Your role will encompass various aspects of transportation and logistics, requiring high attention to detail, analytical problem-solving skills, and a deep understanding of transportation modes and equipment used in the energy sector. In addition to optimizing transportation processes and ensuring smooth coordination between internal departments, third-party carriers, and external customers, you will need advanced skills in Microsoft applications and a basic understanding of internal technology. Moreover, an intermediate understanding of Ryder solutions will be essential for efficient fleet management and operations.

Essential Functions

  • Transportation Coordination and Management: Oversee the transportation of energy products, including oil, gas, and renewable energy resources, from production facilities to distribution points or end-users. Collaborate with internal stakeholders to determine transportation requirements, allocate resources, and schedule shipments effectively.
  • In-depth Knowledge of Energy Sector Transportation: Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of transportation modes commonly used in the energy industry, considering the unique characteristics of each energy product and sector (e.g., Upstream, Midstream, Downstream, Renewable Energy). Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and innovations to optimize transportation strategies.
  • Receive new transportation requests from customers and internal teams and promptly assess the specific type of equipment needed, such as Vac Truck, Pump Truck, Hydro Vac, Flatbed, Hotshot, or other specialized vehicles, based on the nature of the energy product and logistical requirements.
  • Process Improvement and Automation: Analyze transportation workflows and identify opportunities for process improvement, cost optimization, and risk reduction. Leverage Microsoft applications and internal technology to develop automation solutions for transportation operations.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Utilize data analysis tools to assess transportation performance metrics and KPIs, identifying trends and areas for improvement. Employ analytical skills to address complex transportation challenges and make informed decisions.
  • Customer-Facing and Liaison: Act as a primary point of contact for external customers regarding transportation-related inquiries, delivery status, and issue resolution. Collaborate with the sales and customer service teams to provide accurate transportation information and maintain excellent customer relationships.
  • Health Safety Environmental (HSE) Compliance, audit and engagement with the carriers and customer as required.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, and procurement, to determine the most suitable carriers for each transportation request and coordinate the allocation of resources accordingly.
  • Peer Training and Knowledge Sharing: Conduct training sessions for logistics staff and other relevant departments on transportation processes, safety protocols, and technology utilization. Facilitate knowledge sharing within the team to foster continuous improvement.
  • Intermediate Understanding of Ryder Solutions: Familiarity with Ryder solutions, including fleet management tools and services, to effectively manage transportation operations in partnership with Ryder.
  • Risk Management: Proactively identify potential transportation risks and develop contingency plans to mitigate disruptions and ensure operational continuity. Ensure compliance with safety regulations and environmental standards during transportation activities.

Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint, to analyze data and create reports.
  • Intermediate understanding of Ryder solutions for efficient solutioning and collaboration.
  • Basic understanding of internal technology systems to leverage digital tools for transportation process improvement.
  • Extensive experience in transportation logistics within the energy sector, demonstrating knowledge of various transportation modes and equipment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to make data-driven decisions and optimize transportation strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for effective interaction with customers, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
  • Project management skills to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Familiarity with transportation regulations and industry best practices to ensure compliance and safety.
  • Adaptability and resilience to manage unforeseen challenges and changes in transportation operations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required in Business, Logistics or related field of study or a minimum of 8 years relevant work experience
  • Five (5) years or more industry related experience required

As the Energy Transportation Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in optimizing transportation processes and ensuring the smooth movement of energy products within the supply chain. Your advanced skills in Microsoft applications, understanding of internal technology, and knowledge of Ryder solutions will be instrumental in driving process automation and efficiency.
