We are seeking a part-time Junior Level Archaeologist for our Bloomington, MN operations.

The selected candidate will conduct archaeological fieldwork as part of a team or individually.  This work will include pedestrian surveys and shovel testing.  Fieldwork will be in the Midwest, Upper Midwest, and Northern Great Plains.


Qualifications:

The selected candidate must have 1 - 5 years of relevant experience, and will also have / be:

  • Currently reside in the Twin Cities Metro Area of Minnesota.
  • Familiarity with maps and being able to navigate with maps and/or GPS. 
  • Able to manage time well and work on tasks as part of a larger project team.  
  • Strong team player.
  • Excellent communicator, both written and verbal.
  • Knowledge of Midwest and Great Plains Archaeology.

In addition:

  • This position requires you to drive on a regular basis.  Passing a motor vehicle record background check and maintaining a valid driver's license and good driving record is required.


Degree / Certifications:

  • BS or BA in Anthropology or Archaeology

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to walk up to 10-15 miles per day around project sites.
  • Must physically be able to carry equipment such as maps, shovels, screens, GPS unit, and cameras during field work.  


Work Environment:
The work environment will consist of 100% field work, with some field work requiring overnight stays.  You must be able to:

  • Work in a variety of weather conditions, and in all seasons, both hot and cold.
  • Work in remote locations and include areas of uneven terrain.  
  • Travel, including overnight stays.
