We are currently seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer, Renewables with a minimum of 7 years' experience within the electrical engineering field and specifically at least 4 years of demonstrated renewable energy experience.

The ideal candidate will be a key leader of a consulting team evaluating project needs and providing solutions in support of solar generation and energy storage installations. The primary responsibilities will include leading teams and developing conceptual and detailed layouts, documentation, and deliverables for projects supporting clean energy initiatives. In addition, the ideal candidate will possess strong and creative problem-solving ability, strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to prepare detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedures for clients, project managers, and engineering staff.

 

Responsibilities:

·         A strong working knowledge of commonly used engineering/design concepts, principles, practices, procedures, and specifications in renewable energy project engineering.

·         Design of electrical and renewable energy systems including solar photovoltaics (PV), battery energy storage systems (BESS).

·         Prepare and review solar layouts in HelioScope, PV Case, and AutoCAD.

·         Review and assist in the completion of utility interconnection applications.

·         Apply knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC), the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) standards and specifications, Underwriters Laboratories (UL) standards, including knowledge of general building codes, and other applicable state and federal guidelines.

·         Ensure a quality product, perform in QA/QC reviews, and follow all quality procedures.

·         Perform project due diligence including reviewing engineering design and drawings prepared by others.

·         Prepare and review solar glint and glare studies, energy yield assessments (PV Syst), performance ratio analysis, and other documents and studies.

·         Be a team technical lead and work on multiple projects simultaneously.

·         The ability to work independently or in a team environment to deliver projects of varying complexity with deliverables that exceed client expectations.

·         The work ethic to meet deliverable deadlines, understand the client's perspective, and use problem solving/solution-based approaches.

·         Review Requests for Information (RFI's), construction observation, and other construction/client coordination and support

·         Support field investigation activities including site assessments, field measurements, and data collection.

·         Perform and review electrical studies with ETAP, and CYMCAP.

 

Requirements:

·         Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering with study of power systems.

·         Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).

·         Minimum of 7 years of experience working in electrical design, including design of energy generation projects.

·         Minimum of 4 years of demonstrated renewable energy experience.

·         Proficient and literate in engineering analysis and design software including a working knowledge of database programs, GIS, and CAD.

·         Proficiency in AutoCAD and PV Case.

·         Experience with PV Syst, Solar Advisor Model (SAM), and HelioScope solar performance modeling.

·         Knowledge of National Electric Code (NEC), IEEE, and UL requirements.

·         Demonstrated understanding of utility-scale solar-PV system design using central or string-based inverters.

·         A pre-employment drug screen in compliance with federal regulations is required, along with a physical if needed.

·         Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions.

 

Preferred Qualifications

·         A Master's degree in a business or engineering discipline.

·         Licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in multiple States.

·         Experience with HOMER software suite for microgrid optimizations is a plus.

·         Experience with DAS, SCADA, and SEL relays, substations, and high voltage is a plus.

 

Compensation:

Salary commensurate with experience.

$140,000 - $190,000 yr.

 

Pay Range - There are multiple factors that are considered in determining final pay for a position, including, but not limited to, relevant work experience and demonstrated work experience in the above role; skills, certifications, and competencies that align to the specified role; geographic location; and education, as well as contract provisions regarding labor categories that are specific to the position.
