The Office of General Counsel (OGC) is the systemwide headquarters of UC Legal supporting the University's teaching, research and public service mission by timely delivery of ethical, cost efficient and high quality legal services. These legal services include providing advice, counsel and interpretation of laws, regulations and policies, and assisting with development of effective business compliance and risk mitigation strategies to facilitate the University's complex operations; serving as a strategic business partner to University clients; drafting and negotiating agreements; prosecuting and defending litigation. The Office of General Counsel serves the University of California, including the Board of Regents, the President, the Chancellors and other offices of the University, the campuses, the medical centers and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory.
The Deputy General Counsel of Business, Finance and Innovation (BFI) will provide leadership to a diverse and experienced team of attorneys supporting the University's transactional initiatives including expanding technology assets, investing in and further developing the University's commercial opportunities, and supporting global partnerships. This person will be a hands-on leader offering guidance, thought partnership and substantive expertise across a wide array of business and finance transactions.
