Position Summary:   At the UCI Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing and Simulation Center, we dedicate ourselves to the education of nursing professionals who improve patient care and promote community and population health, locally and globally, and we strive to produce leaders in research, education, and clinical practice who will champion collaborative, compassionate, and interdisciplinary evidence-based practice. Firmly committed to inclusive excellence, we are preparing nurse scholars who advance the science that guides practice, and we are preparing future faculty and policy specialists who educate our students to address the growing, aging, and increasingly diverse population of California and the nation. The academic programs that the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing offers include a Bachelor of Science in Nursing Science, a Master of Science in Nursing Science, a Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP), and a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Nursing Science.
  Applies acquired skills, processes, and policy knowledge to support professional health education programs learners. Coordinates program operations, including teaching and learning activities, program curriculum, learner scheduling, maintaining databases, tracking learner compliance, and program accreditation. This position reports to the Accreditation and Operations Manager with a dotted line to the Simulation Center Director and will support the simulation technical and teaching activities of the Sue & Bill Gross School of Nursing and community outreach and relationship-building activities. This position is responsible for technical operations and teaching support and will be required to apply many unique skills and knowledge, including; clinical, computer, and simulation technology. Responsibilities will also include the planning, setup, operation, and tear down of clinical simulation activities and workshops. Also included in the duties are compliance with simulation best practices and standards and regulations, performing maintenance and repair of simulation and simulated clinical, and maintaining partial task trainers and multimedia peripherals. This position will include being a technical instructor for simulation equipment and workshop presentations. Will lead/provide tours, outreach, and demonstrations to internal and external customers.

The expected range is from $26.75 - $47.09 (hourly).

  Required:
  • Associate's degree in a health-related area or equivalent experience/training
  • Associate degree in a health-related field. 
  • 2 years of health-related or healthcare simulation experience may be accepted as a substitute 
  • Proficient in Microsoft® software applications, including Word®, Outlook®, Excel®, and PowerPoint® Ability to work as a member of a team 
  • Self-motivated and require little to no supervision for daily activities 
  • Ability to assess, troubleshoot, and fix equipment failures in a timely fashion 
  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends when required 
  • Communication skills; include verbal, written, and active listening. 
  • Service-oriented and responsive to questions and requests. 
  • Ability to interact in a professional, resourceful, and courteous manner. 
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills. 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop working relationships within the department and with learners. 
  • Excellent organizational skills, analytical, and demonstrated attention to detail. 
  • Ability to work with highly complex faculty calendars/schedules requires extremely well organized and detail-oriented precision. 
  • Knowledge of educational technology and systems. 
  • Ability to troubleshoot and triages related technology issues. 
  • Ability to attain Certified Healthcare Simulation Operations Specialist (CHSOS) or Certified Healthcare Simulation Educator (CHSE) with 24 months of hire


 

Preferred:
  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Laerdal SimCapture® platform 
  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Laerdal simulator systems, including SimPad 
  • Thorough and operational knowledge of Gaumard simulator systems 
  • Certified Simulation Healthcare Operations Specialist (CHSOS) 
  • Previous experience working with healthcare simulation
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) or Paramedic (EMT-P) 
  • Basic knowledge of relevant policies and regulatory requirements. 
  • Basic knowledge of health professions education industry. 
  • Basic knowledge of administrative analysis and operations research. 
  • Acquiring skills in developing and implementing processes and systems. 
  • Familiarity with the administrative and operational implications in a program. 
  • Investigative, data analysis, and reporting skills. 
  • Ability to generate computer reports, checking for errors, correcting, and submitting accurate reports. 
  • Skills include entering, maintaining, extracting, and analyzing data in electronic systems.

  • Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic environment; able to work evenings/weekends when required Ability to travel for training and professional development
