Job Description

CLINICAL JOB DESCRIPTION Family Medicine Residency Program: Core Faculty Position Position Summary: Serve as a core faculty member for the University of Maryland Capital Region Health Family Medicine Residency Program. Teaches residents how to care for patients while demonstrating compassion, professionalism, and a dedication to lifelong learning. The core faculty member will engage in activities to enhance the residents' growth and development as they become independent practitioners. The Core Faculty member expects to provide patient care independent of resident precepting, be a hospital committee member, and engage in scholarly activity and faculty development.

Core Faculty Responsibilities:

• As the residents grow in their ability to manage patients independently, the core faculty member ensures that the residents learn to provide the highest quality of care with compassion and with the engagement of other health care professionals, family members, and the community
• The faculty member must be a role model of professionalism
• Demonstrate commitment to the delivery of safe, quality, cost-effective, patient-centered care
• Do formal and informal evaluations of the residents with feedback
• Regularly participate in organized clinical discussions, rounds, journal clubs, peer reviews, and conferences
• Participate in didactic learning as a proctor for the didactic sessions
• Prepare lectures for the residents
• Provide supervision and teaching in the inpatient and ambulatory settings per a schedule in collaboration with the Program Director
• Model life-long learning for the residents
• Participate in scholarly activities with the residents
• Overseer of the residency program Didactic Curriculum in conjunction with the Chief Residents
• Guide the residents in effectively working with health care teams
• Participate as a member of the Clinical Competency Committee
• Engage in Faculty Development designed to enhance clinical skills
• Serve as a mentor and advisor to the residents
• Assist with the development and periodic review of rotation specific goals and objectives
• Complete the annual ACGME Faculty Survey
• Assist with the development, implementation, and assessment of curriculum
• Assist in the development and review of specific program aims
• Assist in the collection and reporting to residents, staff, and other Faculty on individual and practice productivity, financial performance, and clinical quality
• Assist with the interview and selection of residents to the program
• Assist with the development and periodic review of policies that govern core and elective rotations
• Participate in Hospital Committees and attend Graduate Medical Education meetings as deemed by the DIO and GME Director Clinical Components:
• Time will be dedicated to Physician seeing own patients at least one (1) half (½) day per week without residents or students' presence per ACGME Requirement for Family Medicine Core Faculty and precept Family Medicine Residents up to five (5) half (½) day sessions per week in the Family Medicine Practice Site
• Inpatient Service Coverage: at 20%
• Supervising the Physician's performance under this Agreement shall be the Program Director of the Family Medicine Residency Program, the Associate Program Director, and the Designated Institutional Officer ("DIO") of UM Prince George's Hospital Center.

The Physician shall be qualified by training and experience in the performance of Family Medicine and meet all qualifications as required by Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education ("ACGME") for Faculty,

Qualifications/Requirements:
• Active membership in good standing of the University of Maryland Capital Region Health Medical Staff
• Possession of an unrestricted Maryland state medical license to practice medicine as determined by the Maryland Board of Medical Examiners
• Valid DEA certificate.
