About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work as a Principal Power and High Voltage engineer who provides functional leadership to electrical engineering at Alcoa's Refineries and smelters on all technical and maintenance aspects for relevant systems in Europe.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide functional leadership to electrical engineering at Alcoa's Refineries, Smelters for all aspects of High Voltage (HV) Power Systems engineering & maintenance.
  • Provide leadership in delivering improvements to Alcoa's Power Systems (HV) applying best equipment, operating, engineering and maintenance practices
  • Provide SME technical support for Alcoa's Power Systems (HV) to ensure optimal reliability &availability for continuous operations
  • Provide SME input for Power Systems (HV) Long term and Capital planning process.
  • Provide leadership and support for implementation of the Reliability Excellence (REX) target state through the leadership of communities of Best Practice, setting objectives for these teams and leading problem solving/solution development activities to support the target state
  • Participate in the development of Power Systems (HV) Operational, Reliability and Maintenance strategies.
  • Work closely with Reliability and Engineering Systems functional teams to provide expert-level Maintenance and Engineering technical knowledge, skills and experience to support best practice application of these capabilities to all aspects of asset management
  • Work across all European Refinery and Smelter locations managing and coordinating Alcoa power systems objectives within challenging multi-cultural and multi-language work environments
  • Work collaboratively with the Center of Excellence global Principal Engineer's (HV, LV, Powerhouse and Combustion) to deliver targeted objectives
  • Travel regionally to support Alcoa's Refining and Smelting operations
  • Influence and leverage opportunities across all locations to establish Maintenance and Engineering standards and Best Practice for the consistent and stable operation of Power Systems (HV) 
  • Build relationships that deliver the support and engagement of plant staff in executing Maintenance and Engineering objectives
  • Establish, maintain and manage customer/supplier relationships with the plant management teams, technical personnel and all other outside support groups across European Operations
  • Provide expert Engineering and Maintenance input/analysis into Power Systems (HV) Asset performance, management and optimization (strategies and roadmaps) at the Organizational and Site level
  • Provide and deploy best practice reliability frameworks, measures, tools and systems to support optimizing asset management and performance across Mining, Refining and Smelting locations
  • Provide leadership in the deployment of Power Systems (HV) related training in support of sites
  • Leveraging of the available resources worldwide to rapidly solve problems and implement solutions
  • Manage the development of Power Systems 5- and 10-year Capital Plans
  • Lead the Power Systems (HV) engineering and maintenance help chain to provide problem solving, RCA and troubleshooting service to locations
  • Responsible for the periodic evaluation of Power Systems (HV) Asset Integrity at site level reporting results and recommendations for issue remediation to both the Global Power and Combustion Manager and Site Management
