About the role:

Our Global Capital Management team is looking for a passionate and engaging Senior Project Manager to lead and drive the successful delivery of a diverse portfolio of large brownfield projects.

The Senior Project Manager is accountable for the delivery of project outcomes within the key requirements of time, cost, and quality following project and business requirements.  Manages all project-related activities and the internal/external project resources into a totally integrated, coordinated, safe, and controlled effort to satisfy or exceed client expectations. is responsible for managing and coordinating all project processes from the start of the project phase to the completion of the Review/Closure phase, while ensuring a smooth transition between all phases of the project.

The Senior Project Manager is an experienced project management professional who will take a leadership role on complex, large, or program projects.

In this leadership role reporting to our Regional Major Projects Manager, you will be accountable for the timely, cost-effective, technically sound, and safe design delivery ensuring quality outcomes are achieved following business and project requirements. In addition to ensuring that the projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to agreed technical specifications, you will be focusing on and adding value by:

  • Supporting the business in options analysis and selecting the right solution that adequately defines problems and opportunities;

  • Ensuring compliance with WHS and Environmental legislation along with Alcoa values and performance expectations;

  • Improving project efficiencies and driving continuous improvement towards the reduction in capital intensity;

  • Conducting threats and opportunities assessment at the beginning of every phase of the project involving all appropriate stakeholders in the process;

  • Sharing your vision and setting clear goals, identifying priorities, and motivating the project team towards committing to project objectives;

  • Conducts threats and opportunities assessment at the beginning of every phase of the project involving all appropriate stakeholders in the process, assesses proposed changes against criteria including project intent, cost, schedule, threats, and opportunities. (Changes may be initiated by the customer, a member of the project team, suppliers, contractors, statutory authorities, or natural causes - inclement weather etc.);

  • Issues regular project reports following established guidelines and customer requirements; ensures Project Team members are well suited to nominated roles; leads the Project Team and manages the Team activities following established procedures.

What you can bring to the role:    

              

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in engineering specializing in Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, or related discipline;

  • Additional qualifications in Business or Project Management would be viewed favorably;

  • Broad experience within an operations/engineering and project management environment within a leadership capacity delivering complex programs of projects;

  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and collaborate with multiple stakeholders across various locations;

  • Sets goals and objectives, identifies priorities, clearly communicates these to team members and appropriate other parties, and provides leadership in their implementation;

  • A strategic mindset with a forward-thinking approach to problem-solving;

  • FEL methodology; Operations/engineering and project management field;

  • Advanced English (Reading/Writing/Conversation – will be tested);

  • Availability to live in São Luis/MA.
