THE ROLE:

The AMD Server Platform Design Team is seeking a CAD/EDA Design Lead.  As a project team member, you will work closely with electrical, mechanical, and manufacturing engineers.  The CAD/EDA Design Lead's main responsibility is to create, enable, and maintain efficient geographically agnostic processes and tools.  These processes and tools will optimize quality and drive consistency of Cadence PCB designs.  The Server Design Team fosters and encourages technical innovation as well as facilitates continuous career development.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Creates and enables efficient geographically agnostic processes and tools to optimize quality and consistency of Cadence CAD designs.
  • Proactively explores, pathfinds, and supports state of the art Cadence PCB design and EDA tools and processes to support our internal teams
  • Capable of debugging and solving technical Cadence PCB design and working directly with Cadence for real time support and resolution to ungate time critical designs
  • Coordinating with various disciplines affected by design development and environment.
  • Read and interpret technical documents and communicate description of technical solutions with respect to PCB technology products.
  • Perform independent reviews of the designs.
  • Self-check completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Scripting/programming skills with respect to Cadence and other PCB/PCBA Tools

 

IDEAL CANDIDATE WILL HAVE:

  • A technology related Bachelor's degree at an Accredited School
  • 10+ years' experience as a CAD process and tools developer
  • 5+ years recent experience with full time Cadence PCB design
  • Familiarity with applicable industry (IPC) design standards
  • Experience with Constraint Manager rules and interpreting their implementation in the layout.
  • Experience with layout of mixed analog and digital designs, high speed buses, PCIE Gen4, Processor Interconnect , DDR4, FPGA, DRAM, CPU designs, power supplies, DC-DC converters, transmission lines, impedance controlled traces and power traces
  • Understanding of Printed Circuit Board fabrication and design for manufacturability (DFM & DFA) along with experience using Valor, CAM350, or similar tools
  • Ability to self-direct and self-motivate, work in multidisciplinary teams with minimal supervision, prioritize work in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • High level of design quality and attention to detail are a must!
