THE ROLE: 

Help customers build products to accelerate next-generation computing experiences. Work with customers and internal development team on server platform BIOS solutions for AMD's cutting-edge server products. Come help train customers on latest technologies and help them launch new generation of servers.  

 

THE PERSON: 

Our ideal candidate will possess strong communication and collaboration skills. A candidate should be a highly motivated, self-learning firmware engineer. In this role you will be working closely with the end customer providing training and guidance, debugging and resolving issues in a timely manner to assure they can use AMD technology and launch their projects on schedule. You are passionate about firmware development with creative and effective problem-solving skills, a motivated, self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively in fast paced environments.  (This is not a New Grad position)

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: 

  • Interface with customers and provide BIOS and FW support on customer server platforms with AMD solutions, including technical Q&A, triage, debug, validation, and driving issue resolution. This includes supporting IBV and customer EDKII code bases.
  • Learn new AMD technologies and train customer on how to leverage them in their designs.
  • Understand customer BIOS and FW requirements, articulate feature gaps into clear requests to partner stakeholders. Drive feature deliverables with timelines back to customers.
  • Support internal and external platform bring-up.
  • Coordinate priorities and activities with other engineering partners to meet commitments.
  • Work with firmware architects and SoC designers to implement proofs of concept and productize new AMD silicon features.

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong knowledge of server architecture, x86 processors, experience with UEFI and silicon initialization firmware code.
  • Solid understanding of DDR, PCIe , eSPI, etc.
  • Expertise in C programming language and hardware debugging.
  • Knowledge of RAS is a plus.
  • Multiple prior years of related firmware experience combined with technical education within the semiconductor industry  

ACADEMIC CREDENTIALS: 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree (preferred) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent
