Senior Manager, DC GPU SOC Firmware 

 

THE TEAM: 

We are a cutting-edge firmware-focused team, committed to developing leading-edge Server/Data Center (DC) CPU and AI & ML Accelerators. The team is passionate about ML SoC initialization firmware, and AI/ML Accelerator firmware development from architectural concept development through customer production. 

 

We are searching for an energetic leader who can inspire and lead a team of highly talented engineers, collaborate with project management and silicon design, and architecture teams across all domains of the SoC.  Successful candidates will employ world-class software development processes, innovate, and deploy cutting edge processes to deliver high-quality firmware powering tomorrow's data center compute needs.   

 

THE PERSON: 

We are looking for a genuine leader who can innovate and inspire, connect with teams and communicate with both executives and engineers.  Our leaders draw upon their critical problem-solving capabilities, relentless determination, and focus under pressure to guide our talented teams, while employing a people-first mindset.  

 

KEY RESPONSIBIIES: 

  • Lead an innovative team developing firmware for Data Center and Server products. 
  • Guide the teams through triage and debug of challenging firmware-related issues. 
  • Lead the team on FW release and GPU initialization package build. 
  • Create next-generation firmware development plans and execute those plans. 
  • Scope new work with accuracy, including return on investment estimates. 
  • Operate with a mindset of continuous improvement, delivering year over year efficiencies and quality improvements. 
  • Innovate and differentiate through firmware to delight customers and secure AMD's position as the vendor of choice for data center and enterprise deployments.  
  • Grow the team's capabilities through individualized employee growth and development. 
  • Employ transformational leadership methodologies.  

 

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE: 

  • 5+ years team lead or team management experience.  
  • 8+ years' work experience with computer system hardware, software, embedded firmware and embedded systems, Hardware and FW testing and methodologies development.  
  • Proven work experience in software/embedded firmware development and software/firmware testing experience in server and data center environments. 
  • In-depth knowledge of server and data center system architecture. 
  • Work experience on GPU firmware and SOC initialization, Jenkins and github code management, test flow and release process. 
  • Experience with emulation system and emulation structure a plus. 
  • Strong analytical skills and debug methodologies.  
  • Outstanding interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills with open mindset. 
  • Laboratory experience and knowledge of PCB and schematics design as valuable assets. 

 

EDUCATION: 

  • Bachelor of Science or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
