LOCATION:
Markham, Ontario

 

ONSITE: These roles require the student to work full-time (37.5 hours a week), either in an onsite work structure, throughout the co-op/intern term.

PROGRAM TERM:

Sept 09, 2024 to Dec 20, 2024

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING:

 

Support graphics product management, product marketing, sales and PR by testing, analyzing and documenting 3D performance and other key features of graphics products.

 

Position Duties 

 

  • Evaluate and report performance metrics for the entire AMD Radeon graphics product line and relevant competitors, utilizing industry-standard benchmarks, 3D games, and other relevant tests.

  • Analyze and monitor performance variations introduced by each new Radeon display driver. Identify affected products, resolutions, framebuffer sizes, etc., and summarize findings for inclusion in driver release notes and other communication channels.

  • Assess the performance, features, and quality of upcoming graphics products, comparing them against existing and competitor offerings. Utilize games, benchmarks, diagnostic tests, and utilities as necessary, and provide detailed analysis of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats. Conduct similar analysis for new competitor products.

  • Contribute to reviewers' guides by illustrating the performance and features of upcoming graphics products through charts, graphs, and comprehensive documentation of testing procedures.

  • Stay informed about evolving review techniques, including game titles, resolutions, and image quality settings, and update testing protocols accordingly. Keep track of new game and benchmark release schedules and integrate them into testing procedures promptly.

  • Evaluate new test applications and games to identify system and graphics sensitivities. Prepare and deliver reports detailing the performance of key Radeon and competitor products in these new titles.

  • Develop scripts and tools to automate performance testing, including generating command lines, configuring files, launching test applications, handling error conditions, parsing result files, and installing helper applications.

  • Create and maintain images of current Windows operating systems for deployment across test machines, utilizing Microsoft sysprep and DISM tools. Ensure these images are updated regularly to incorporate service packs and other updates.

 

WHO WE'RE LOOKING FOR:

  •   Strong knowledge of computer graphics and video technology
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  •  Action oriented with strong analytical and problem solving skills
  •  Experience with PC assembly and hardware upgrades, hardware and software troubleshooting
  •  Experience installing and configuring Microsoft operating systems and applications
  •  Familiarity with semiconductor and PC industry standards
  •  Ability to multitask effectively in a fast paced environment

 

KEY QUALIFICATIONS:

  • University Degree Program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a similar related discipline is strongly preferred. Marketing, Business Administration, Commerce and similar programs that include a rigorous IS, IT or CompSci component may also be considered.
  •  Strong knowledge of computer graphics and video technology
  •  Strong verbal and written communication skills; strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  •  Experience with C++, Python, XML, HTML, Excel, databases would be an asset.
