Responsibilities
In conjunction with Ascension Medical Group, Newland Medical Associates is looking for a full-time Infectious Diseases physician to their practice.
Position Highlights:
* The practice has been in existence since 1982, and has a total of 10 Infectious Disease, 10 Hematology/Oncology and 2 Rheumatology physicians. 85 + staff members support the six office locations.
* In 2022, the practice saw 1951 outpatients and 27,936 inpatient visits.
* Visits include: new patients, consultations, follow-up visits, antibiotic, and chemotherapy infusions. There are 32 chairs for chemotherapy and antibiotic infusions.
* The practice has additional offices in Novi and Bingham Farms, and includes a Hepatitis clinic and the Newland Immunology Center of Excellence promotes research of infectious diseases and provides care for hepatitis and HIV patients.
* All physicians in the practice are board certified, and are involved in teaching and rounding with medical students, residents, and fellows when on service.
* On-site billing; payor mix is 44% Medicare, 2% Medicaid, 27% BCBS and 27% other insurances.
Responsibilities:
* Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills.
* Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.
* Accepts patient referrals from other physicians. Acts as admitting, attending and/or consulting physician for patients who require hospitalization for primary medical diagnoses, depending on needs of patients, medical staff and hospital.
* Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.
* Provides appropriate documentation that meets insurance company requirements; appeal all denials in a timely manner.
* Participates in inpatient and outpatient consultation for specialty, which may include on call schedules.

Requirements
Licensure/Certification/Registration:
Required Credential(s)
Physician MD/DO with Prescriptive Authority credentialed from the Michigan Board of Medicine obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date
Preferred Credential(s)
Completion of an accredited Internal Medicine residency program
Completion of an accredited Infectious Diseases fellowship program
BC IM and BE/BC in Infectious Diseases
Special interest in and willingness to teach is desirable
Education
Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathy (DO) required
