Overview



The radiologic technologists conducts radiologic procedures as directed by the physician. Specific roles include:

A. Prepares and observes the patient during radiologic procedures

1. Instructs patient in what to expect during the procedure

2. Observes patient's physical condition during the radiologic procedure

3. Positions patient correctly for x-ray procedures

4. Selects proper length and intensity and x-ray exposure for best quality f1ms

B. Conducts radiologic procedures as ordered by the physician

1. Follows prescribed safety standards in operation of radiologic eqUipment

2. Examines radiologic film for properties such as density and contrast, definition,

Magnification, and distortion.

C. Maintains exam room equipment and supplies

1. Stocks necessary medical and radiology supplies

D. Delivers quality x-ray film to radiologist for reading/interpretation

1. Develops and processes tsfiolohi film

E. Maintains quality control duties and documentation as required by ACR and FDA

1. Conducts required quality control related to radiology

2. Documents quality control results

F. Maintains accurate medical records

1. Completes documentation related to radiologic procedures during patient

visit

G. Communicates clearly and appropriately with team members, physician (s), and patients

1. Communicates complete/timely information to appropriate member of the primary care

team

H. Provides quality customer service conSistently

1. Smile

2. Friendly tone of voice and manner

I. Completes accurate coding of radiologic procedures

1. Complete encounter form correctly

2. Accurate knowledge of commonly seen CPT codes

J. Provides age appropriate care to patients

1. Techniques and equipment used in patient procedures are appropriate for the age of the patient

2. Teaching techniques used for patient education are appropriate for the age of the patient

3. Safety measures used with patients are appropriate to the age of the patient

K. Performs other duties as assigned
