Job Description
The BAE Systems site in Anniston, AL is seeking a seasoned Continuous Improvement Leader. In this role as a Continuous Improvement Leader, you'll perform all aspects of Continuous Improvement (CI) activities, always driven by business needs and company strategies / objectives. Your focus will be on Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost while delivering CI activities at a high level as a seasoned practitioner. You'll be charged to coach and mentor leaders, project teams, and associates to engrain solid problem-solving through process on a daily basis. As the CI and Lean SME at the Anniston site, you'll lead and facilitate Kaizen events, daily/weekly coaching and training sessions with problem-solving teams, and develop future coaches and practitioners in assigned areas. Through active engagement, you'll offer support for CI applications on the floor and establish CI 90-day and annual plans, data collection systems, program/project tracking, sustainment and follow-up initiatives. You'll be charged to support the site CI Pillar process, deployment, and replication to department levels. Responsibilities will include managing project identification, prioritization, and execution by applying the models, methods, and standards available, including Visual Management Systems, Metric boards and Tools aligned with "Go See" walks with plant, department, and program leaders.

As the CI Leader in Anniston, included role duties:

  • Place high emphasis on Safety while driving team behaviors such as integrity, inspiration, promoting collaboration, being courageous, creative, and adaptable, while developing others to improve overall business processes and performance.
  • Maintain and develop further relationships with all Strategic Operations, Operations Managers, and associates to include Operators, Quality, Engineering, Materials, Programs, and Supply Chain to support various initiatives, projects or any other activity by applying the available tools and knowledge.
  • Continuously engage in the CI Pillar Process ensuring the approach of identifying and prioritizing the projects that will be leading / coaching or mentoring the coach, applying the correct tools (5 Why, A3, 6S, Standardized Work, JDI, Quick Events, 6 Sigma, etc).
  • Apply Project Management Tool to manage all projects within scope (Plant / Department or Area) while ensuring timeline and target accomplishment (which includes savings or additional impact calculation and approvals, projects documentation and 12 months tracking for sustainability).
  • Train and facilitate cross-functional teams on Visual Management Systems, Metric boards and Tools aligned with "Go See" walks with plant, department, and program leaders.
  • Lead or coach high impact projects due to level of complexity and impact to the organization. Recommend and propose potential replication projects to plant/program/department owners.
  • Continuously focus on capabilities development and certifications related to CI knowledge and application as supporting the development of others. Special focus on peers in Quality, Operations, Manufacturing, and Engineering. Lead as an agent with a problem-solving mindset.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Typically requires a Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering or Science or related discipline with six (6) years of related experience, or the overall equivalent;
  • Subject Matter Expertise in Lean and Continuous Improvement principles, systems, methodologies and tools.
  • Lean or Six Sigma Certification (i.e. Green Belt, Black Belt).
  • Experience with Quality, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or Industrial engineering departments and activities.
  • Requires analytical, problem-solving skills with systematic thinking ability.
  • Highly effective communicator both written and spoken.
  • Training experience, both in individual and group settings. Experience presenting material and providing mentoring and coaching.
  • Pro-active with an ability to influence, lead, guide, and drive change.
  • Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite, Minitab, Visio, or similar applications.

  • Certified Lean Six Sigma BB

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $91980 - $156330

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
