Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director III – Finance to support our Ordnance Systems Inc. (OSI). This is a key Finance Leadership position, reporting directly to the P&S Sector CFO and supporting the VP GM of the OSI Business unit. The successful candidate for the Director Finance position will assume responsibility for all financial matters at the Ordnance Systems, Inc. (OSI) business unit.

Ordnance Systems is an interesting and complex organization managing two Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) sites in Radford, VA and Holston, TN. The business manages production of various products, the facilities themselves, and modernization or construction projects to expand and modernize the plants.

The OSI Director of Finance will function as the primary financial advisor to the OSI VP/GM and hold a strong and key leadership position on the OSI Senior Leadership Team (SLT). This position will lead and manage a large team of business managers, accounting, government compliance, pricing, and program finance professionals. The OSI Director of Finance will successfully deliver program control, accounting, and financial services.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead team of approximately 50 OSI finance staff, ensuring adequate development, training, and capabilities to support and deliver OSI business objectives.
  • Lead the OSI SLT in financially oriented business strategy, controls, delivering commitments, and making business decisions.
  • Support OSI plant managers and program offices in contract execution and financial analysis as well as negotiating contracts.
  • Recommend and implement optimal program control practices, financial analyses, and financial reporting to ensure the highest level of program financial performance.
  • Lead financial analysis, accounting, pricing, and government compliance services for the OSI business unit.
  • Establish business, project, and overhead financial plans and forecasts.
  • Review performance to financial plans and ensure appropriate KPI's are in place and utilized to track the financial performance of the organization in a timely matter.
  • Participate in long-term strategic planning.
  • Lead the development of the five-year financial business plan for the OSI business unit, including coordination with all functions to ensure aligned to deliver.
  • Lead the financial accounting department to ensure proper accounting policies are implemented and a satisfactory internal control environment is maintained.
  • Perform a wide variety of high level, complex financial/business analyses to drive informed and risk balanced proposals and negotiations.
  • Effectively lead the financial staff and business through business process and business system changes.
  • Other duties as required across functions and operational organizations.


Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or similar discipline and 12 + years of relevant work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Financial Management/Leadership
  • Experience in Program Finance and Accounting
  • Experience in Manufacturing/Production industries
  • Experience in Finance Leadership for a Complex Business Portfolio
  • Experience in Strategic Partnership with Line Leadership
  • Experience in People Management/Leadership in a dynamic organization
  • Strong business acumen and proven leadership to drive attainment of financial metrics and key objectives
  • Demonstrated understanding of Manufacturing, Program Finance, and Program Control processes and responsibilities
  • Demonstrated understanding of Financial Accounting (IFRS) and Government compliance regulations (FAR)
  • Ability to serve as a strategic partner for leadership and influence short and long-term business planning and decision-making
  • Ability to manage diverse stakeholders and challenge the status quo to support continuous improvement and further our competitive advantage
  • Ability to ensure compliance with complex Defense (DoD) and Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) requirements
  • Possession of excellent interpersonal and influencing skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to frequently travel between Radford and Holston facilities


Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master of Business Administration (MBA)
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
  • Experience in Defense Contracting (DoD) industries
  • Experience in Government Owned Contractor Operated (GOCO) environments
  • Experience in Earned Value Management (EVM)


Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $194600 - $330800

Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
