The Belton hospital is one of the many HCA Midwest Health System hospitals in the Kansas City and surrounding areas. Located conveniently at Highways 71 and 58 in Belton, Mo., Belton Regional Medical Center is a 71-bed acute care facility offering a full range of inpatient and outpatient services. In 2011-2012, the hospital underwent a $39.2 million dollar renovation and expansion project to meet the growing medical needs of its community.

What you will do in this role:

  1. Performs pre and post-analytic testing, including reporting, verification, and investigation of unexpected results

  2. Monitors quality control.

  3. Maintains inventory of supplies and reagents, as well as non-analytic equipment such as freezers and centrifuges

  4. Correlates abnormal data to determine validity, following up if needed with additional testing

  5. Participates in performance improvement activities and management of lab data

  6. Performs phlebotomy on pediatric, adult and geriatric patients

  7. Other duties as assigned

  8. Demonstrates working knowledge of AIDET, utilizing with each patient interaction

  9. Regular, reliable attendance is required to ensure the highest level of patient care

  10. Follows hospital safety and quality standards and expectations, as it pertains to job performance and patient care

  11. Behavior demonstrates understanding and adherence to Belton Regional Medical Center's ICARE values:

Qualifications

Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Lab Science OR grandfathered as a Med Tech by CLIA 1988. Foreign education must have proof of US equivalency.
  • MT (ASCP), CLS (NCA), MLS (ASCP) or, as appropriate, BB(ASCP), C(ASCP), I (ASCP), H(ASCP), or M(ASCP) certification or equivalent required OR registry/certification eligible. Registry/certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 1 year experience in accredited lab setting preferred
