Description

Job Summary:
The Biomed Equipment Technician with Bio-Electronics is responsible for the installation, maintenance, calibration, and repair of a wide range of biomedical equipment and electronic devices used in health care settings. This role ensures that all medical equipment functions safely and efficiently, supporting health care providers in delivering optimal patient care. This position is an employee of Bio-Electronics and will be housed within Kearney Regional Medical Center in Kearney, Nebraska.


Responsibilities:
Installation and Calibration:
- Install, set up, and calibrate biomedical equipment and devices in compliance with manufacturer specifications and health care standards.

Maintenance and Repair:
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on medical equipment to ensure proper functioning.
- Diagnose and repair equipment malfunctions promptly, minimizing downtime.

Safety and Compliance:
- Conduct safety checks and performance tests on biomedical equipment to ensure compliance
with regulatory standards, modeled to meet The Joint Commission, DNV, and CMS regulatory
compliance standards to ensure patient safety.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance, repairs, and inspections.

Technical Support:
- Provide technical support and training to health care staff on the proper use and care of
biomedical equipment.
- Respond to service calls and troubleshoot issues efficiently.

Inventory Management:
- Maintain an inventory of spare parts and tools necessary for equipment maintenance and repair.
- Ensure timely ordering and restocking of supplies. Collaboration with facility personnel on parts sourcing.
- Properly maintain test calibration equipment.

Documentation and Reporting:
- Document all service activities, including maintenance and repair actions, in accordance with
organizational policies in the CMMS database system.
- Prepare and submit reports on equipment performance and service history.

Experience:
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in biomedical equipment maintenance and repair service field

Certifications:
- Certification as a Biomedical Equipment Technician (CBET) is highly desirable.

Skills:
- Strong technical knowledge of biomedical equipment and electronic devices.
- Proficient in using diagnostic tools and software for troubleshooting.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Maintains an excellent rapport with fellow co-workers, hospital staff, and vendors.
- Willingness to participate in on-call rotation.

Physical Requirements:
Walking, standing, and sitting for prolonged periods. Must have or obtain a valid
driver's license in the state of Nebraska.

Working Conditions:
Primarily works in a well-lighted, well-ventilated, tobacco-free environment.
Individuals must be able to lift items that weigh 50 pounds or more, occasionally for more than 1/3 of the workday. Comfortable working in various health care environments, including hospitals and clinic sites.
