Job Description:

The incumbent will serve as the primary energy engineer for all PD&C projects and provide innovative and creative engineering solutions and direction to Operations and PD&C Staff to ensure all projects meet High Performance Design (HPD) and energy-related standards/commitments, and State energy code requirements Additionally, this position will identify and recommend best practices during planning and design of projects. Under the direction of the Director, will manage strategic negotiations of the SEMP program and ensure proper tracking. The engineer will be responsible for management and ensuring the effectiveness of energy-related applications. Supports design and other technical reviews as necessary to evaluate/implements conservation measures.

Requires Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or other relevant engineering/scientific discipline and 7 years of related experience, or equivalent; Experience in a complex, multi-building environment; Diverse knowledge of many trade areas including: mechanical, electrical (including high voltage), fire alarm, sprinkler, elevator, plumbing, pipe fitting, HVAC and controls technology, district cooling and heating systems, and building electrical distribution and service systems; Advanced knowledge and understanding of engineering principles, methods, and techniques; Knowledge and understanding of all relevant federal and state laws, regulations, and operating guidelines; Significant experience in energy management/energy auditing of facilities, preferably with research facility management and auditing experience; Must be willing and able to support a diverse and inclusive environment; Strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of constituencies in a diverse community; Demonstrated ability to negotiate and navigate in a complex, collaborative environment. Ability to plan steps and carry out multi-phase projects requiring problem definition and modified techniques, to coordinate work with others, and to modify methods and procedures to solve a wide variety of problems. Ability to direct and organize program activities and to establish program goals and objectives that support the strategic plan; Physically capable of accessing areas in buildings where mechanical equipment is located.

The position requires average agility and physical condition. Ability to lift and carry moderately heavy materials weighing up to 10 pounds. Work may require sitting, frequent near vision use for reading and computer use, lifting (from floor to overhead), stooping, bending, stretching, walking, standing for long periods of time, reaching, talking, hearing, fingering and grasping.

Final candidate is required to successfully complete a criminal and education background check satisfactory to Brown.
