The Water Treatment Technician performs test and maintains proper chemical level in heating systems, steam generators and AC water towers. Carries out scheduled water sampling in all water towers, closed heating systems, chilled water systems, and steam generator stations. Maintains records for water testing, maintains CMMS communication, fills out work requests and work orders, record keeping or readings and sampling, written and verbal turnovers. Maintains mechanical injection systems, chemical pumps, waters softeners and associated piping to the boiler chemical and operating control. Performs other mechanical tasks as needed by the lead operator and chief engineer. Operates power tools and equipment, plus automotive equipment to transport chemicals and materials. Orders materials and supplies as required, particularly with regard to maintaining chemical and salt inventory for softeners. Performs related duties as required.
High School diploma/GED. Two years' experience in chemical water treatment and actual boiler operation. Boiler Operator's License for the City of Providence. Some academic background in chemistry or training in the practical application of chemicals preferred. Must possess a thorough knowledge of closed heating systems, steam generator stations, and A/C water towers and have a background in mechanical injection systems. Must be willing and able to support a diverse and inclusive environment.
Ability to perform physical activities that require frequent, talking, hearing, seeing, color identification, reading (English), writing (English) and considerable and repetitive activities using arms and legs and moving entire body, such as reaching, standing for long periods of time, walking, kneeling, fingering, grasping, feeling, climbing (including ladders), lifting (up to 50lbs), bending, balancing, stooping, and handling of materials.
Final candidate required to successfully complete a criminal/DMV background check.
