About the Practice

The Perioperative Surgical Home (PSH) is a patient-centered, provider-led continuity of care delivery model that includes multi-specialty care teams and cost-efficient use of resources at all levels, utilizing shared decision-making.

You will perform clinical functions during the pre-surgical testing phase of perioperative patient care to ensure that the patient and care team are fully prepared for surgery. Perioperative Surgical Home care reduces post-op complications, shortens hospital stay, and increases patient satisfaction with better outcomes.

You Can Expect:

  • Work Schedule: Monday-Friday – days
  • Patient assessments to evaluate surgical patients prior to surgery
  • Orders and interprets necessary pre-operative testing results, clearance consultations, reports, referral responses, labs, imaging studies, etc and develop a plan of care/manage the results according to current protocols
  • Conducts consultations with supervising physician(s) and plans, orders and interprets additional testing as needed
  • Conducts appropriate patient education activities and coaching
  • Communicates concerns and changes in plan with appropriate personnel
  • You will work in the Pre-Surgery clinic and may also do hospital rounding for late add-ons for surgery.

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited Masters/Doctorate NP program,
  • Board Certified, Virginia state licensure in good standing.
  • Perioperative/Surgical experience desired.
