JOB PURPOSE

Plans and implements an instructional program in Career Technology Education (CTE) and provides related educational services for students in a skills-based learning environment. Manages student behavior, assesses, and evaluates student achievement, and modifies instructional activities as required. Carries out a variety of student monitoring and control activities and provides instructional and leadership services that prepares students with the related academic, critical thinking, computer technology, work place readiness and technical skills essential to pursuing careers in Engineering. Prepares students for career focused opportunities and successful passing of the Project Lead the Way End of Course (EOC) Assessments.

  ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assesses student abilities as related to desired educational goals, objectives, and outcomes.
  • Plans and implements appropriate instructional/learning strategies and activities, including determining appropriate kinds and levels of materials. Utilizes a variety of instructional materials and available multimedia and computer technology to enhance learning.
  • Organizes and maintains an inventory of both durable (e.g., 3D printers, robotics kits) and consumable (e.g., filament for 3D printers) goods and assists in determining what materials need to be reordered
  • Ensures consistent and proper use of Engineering equipment (e.g., 3D printers, robotics kits, AutoDesk Inventor, milling machine) and provides opportunities for students to gain hands-on experience with them
  • Provides guidance as students complete a portfolio of career focused opportunities.
  • Provides supervision and support as students pursue work-based learning with leading industry partners.
  • Prepares students for successful passing of Project Lead the Way Engineering End-of-Course Assessments
  • Participates in mandatory PLTW summer trainings

  • Manages the behavior of learners in instructional settings to ensure that the environment is conducive to the learning process, as well as assists and participates in the management of student behavior in other parts of the school, center, school.
  • Prepares materials and classroom for class activities.
  • Maintains accurate and complete student records as required by law, district policy, and administrative regulations.
  • Instructs students individually and in groups, using various teaching methods such as lectures, discussions, and demonstrations.
  • Instructs and monitors students in the use and care of equipment and materials, in order to prevent injury and damage.
  • Enforces all administration policies and rules governing students.
  • Plans and supervises work-experience programs in businesses, industrial shops, and school laboratories.
  • Participates in in-service and staff development activities and staff meetings as required or assigned.
  • Continually assesses student achievement and maintains appropriate assessment and evaluation documentation for institutional and individual reporting purposes.
  • Ensures that the classroom and instructional environment are attractive, healthy, safe, and conducive to learning and that materials are in good condition and accessible to students.
  • Prepares students to work toward 100% certification and completion.
  • Performs and promotes all activities in compliance with equal employment and non-discrimination policies; follows federal laws, state laws, school board policies and the professional standards.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor's degree (BA) from an accredited college or university or equivalent.
  • Possession of valid teaching certification (as appropriate).
  • Minimum of one (1) to three (3) years successful teaching experience (may include Student Teaching Internship experience).
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Command of grades/subject specific content and theoretical knowledge of learning theory, including motivation, reinforcement, evaluation and feedback techniques.
  • Understanding of and commitment to company values.
  • Successful results of criminal and employment background check.
  • Effective instructional delivery techniques and excellent communication skills.
  • Adherence to the requirements of the Code of Ethics for the Education Profession.
  • Such alternatives to the above requirements as CSUSA may find appropriate and acceptable.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the responsibilities of this position, the work environment characteristics listed below are representative of the environment the employee will encounter:

  • Usual office working conditions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • No physical exertion required.
  • Travel within or outside of state.
  • Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force as frequently as needed to move objects.

 

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Salary and benefits shall be paid consistent with CSUSA salary and benefit policy. Length of the work year and hours of employment shall be those established by Charter Schools USA.

 

FLSA OVERTIME CATEGORY

 

Job is exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act.

 

EVALUATION

Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Charter Schools USA's policy.
