TEAM LEADER SPECIAL ASSETS

 

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? Under general supervision, this colleague is responsible for the team's collection and recovery of past due and charged off consumer credits, including residential mortgages, personal lines of credit, equity lines of credit and HELOCS, among others. Ensures the department maximizes returns and collections, while at the same time helping certain customers to be restored to active and pass credit status through negotiation and collection activity. Gathers, reviews and approves reports (e.g., retrospectives, doubtful log, accruals/non-accruals). Approves and recommends loan decisions on credits within delegated authority. Monitors subordinates' decisions on courses of action taken to maximize collections. Provides technical advice and assistance to lending and credit personnel regarding explicitly identification and evaluation of potential problem loans. Develops, improves and enforces the department's internal policies and procedures. Performs other duties as requested. Must be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and must be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry"; or must be able to be registered under the Safe Act. Must remain in good standing under the Safe Act.

What you will do
  • Manages portfolio of problem consumer loans. Leads a team developing and recommending strategies to rehabilitate, where appropriate, or to maximize recovery and reduce losses from portfolios. Prepares and reviews a variety of reports dealing with portfolio status, risk classification and proposed action plans, performance tracking, recommendations for charge-offs and other routine reports.
  • Ensures the timely recognition and reporting of changes in loan quality and risk to minimize the Bank's exposure and ensure that proper reserves are in place.
  • Directs department workflow. Oversees and approves staff training, performance appraisals, counseling and hiring and termination decisions. Lends support to subordinates' negotiations with consumer loan customers in cases where the customer's relationship with the Bank is at a serious juncture.
  • Interfaces with branches and loan departments to detect loan problems early and to help recommend corrective action when requested to do so. Also, provides consultative assistance outside of department to other areas of CNB, particularly on deteriorating assets. Refers to internal or external attorneys whenever special loan documents or confirmation of the Bank's legal position is required.

Must-Have*

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, Economics or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 15 years Consumer/Small Business lending experience
  • Minimum of 3 years supervisory experience.
  • SAFE Act Registration Must be in good standing under "The Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act of 2008" (Safe Act) and must be registered/licensed with the "Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry"; or must be able to be registered under the Safe Act. Must remain in good standing under the Safe Act.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Thorough working knowledge of analysis of consumer credits and relatated regulations, including Fair Lending, required.
  • Requires thorough knowledge of appropriate banking laws, regulations and bank policies and practices.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact effectively with all levels of Bank personnel and customers.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of the Microsoft Suite.
Compensation Starting base salary: $141,830 - $263,408 per year. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. This job is eligible for bonus and/or commissions.
