Description
The Safe Mobility Section leads Edmonton's Vision Zero initiative, aiming for zero traffic-related deaths and serious injuries by 2032. Endorsed by City Council in 2015, this effort includes city-wide transportation and development projects outlined in the Safe Mobility Strategy 2021-2025. The section has three units focusing on the "5 Es" of traffic safety: Engineering, Automated Enforcement, and Planning and Community Activation (Evaluation, Education, and Engagement). The Engineering unit uses evidence-based policies and solutions to enhance road safety for all users, regardless of mobility type, ability, or age, in all seasons.
