Are you passionate about data analytics, performance measurement and management, and drawing insights from data to support business outcomes? Bring your leadership expertise to the City of Edmonton as the Supervisor, Business Performance and Analytics.

Aligned with Department, Branch and Section plans, as well as Enterprise Performance Management, this position will manage the people and processes responsible for accurate data collection, analysis and reporting within the Infrastructure Maintenance section. 

The Supervisor, Business Performance and Analytics is an integral part of tactical service delivery, and requires intimate understanding of business area tactical operations. Reporting to the General Supervisor of Maintenance Planning & Monitoring, the Supervisor collaborates across sections and units to build relationships and develop business processes, and is accountable for the measuring and monitoring of maintenance plans and projects related to mobility assets (roads, sidewalks), bridges and auxiliary structures (guard rails, stairs, retaining walls) and open spaces assets (sports field structures and play spaces).This area defines unit level KPIs and tracks the execution and performance on a daily, weekly and monthly basis. In 2024, a main focus will be overseeing the continued review of the section's existing performance monitoring framework including the development of program level KPIs, introduction of additional auditing activities, and ensuring a smooth transition to SAP S4/HANA. 

With a focus on client satisfaction and working in an integrated business model, you will:

  • Lead a team of 4 professionals and specialists responsible for the design, development and delivery of timely, comprehensive, accurate and transparent reports that analyze business functions and key operations and provide insights into business performance  
  • Define section, unit and program level KPIs and track/measure performance, and provide Program and Operational Managers with tactical reporting and easy to read dashboards that support real-time operational decision making
  • Design, update and oversee monthly Program/Unit/Section Performance Report Cards as a part of the monthly performance/variance review process in the section
  • Represent and lead the section, while working with Branch and Department strategic teams, to identify and report back on, measures for Enterprise Performance Management
  • Lead data and trend analysis and provide insights and make recommendations for improvements
  • Ensure data governance, integrity, accuracy, and security across all data management and reporting activities using data from multiple corporate systems (SAP, PeopleSoft, SDMS, COBS, etc.)
  • Develop and maintain regular auditing activities to ensure data quality and apply timely corrective actions
  • Conduct research of systems, best practice methods and materials for asset monitoring and performance
  • Develop and deliver technical information sessions to non-technical and leadership audiences
  • Ensure data accuracy and consistent reporting by designing and creating optimal processes and procedures for analytics employees to follow (SOPs)
  • Act as a subject matter expert to support the Enterprise Commons transition, the production of business area Council reports, and cost-benefit analysis
  • Implement/oversee the data/report requests process: tracking requests submitted, prioritization, approval, etc. and anticipate future demands for reports
