The Loss Control Manager will report to CED's Vice President & General Counsel and is primarily responsible for the day-to-day operations of the Loss Control Department. Responsibilities include, but may not be limited to, the following:

  • Manage and support the Loss Control Department team in accomplishing its day-to-day functions.
  • Manage and support coverage placement and claims management company-wide, including management of internal and external risk management resources.
  • Lead and manage departmental employees, including the hiring, training, development, performance evaluation and counsel, and compensation administration according to company policies and procedures.
  • Provide best practices in all areas of risk management, including workers' compensation, general liability, auto liability, property and operations, including new and emerging business.
  • Identify, explore, and implement practices and procedures for efficiency and cost reduction measures, in both a company-wide and departmental setting.
  • Assist in the identification and evaluation of the Company's risk profile, including property, casualty, auto, and operational risks.
  • Oversee the company's self-insurance program for casualty and commercial property claims.
  • Develop and implement programs and processes to control the cost of insurance premiums and claims.
  • Develop and provide both departmental and interdepartmental training on safety, loss control and risk management related topics.
  • Prepare operating budget and monitor spending for adherence to budget.
  • Develop, and report regularly, department and employee performance measurements.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain procedures and guidelines to ensure adherence to company policies.
  • Other duties as assigned by senior management.

ARM, AIC, CIC, or CPCU designation, preferred

Ten years staff management experience, preferably in the areas of loss control, risk management and/or claims management

Understanding of commercial property and casualty insurance coverages and claims concepts

Creative and strategic thinker, grounded in company processes, with ability to identify issues and take initiative for process improvement and problem resolution.

Exemplary interpersonal, verbal, and written language skills in English.

Strong organizational, problem-solving and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow

Must be able to work independently, possess good organization skills, and show a strong attention to detail.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook, and proficiency in RMIS software
