Are you a strong communicator with a natural curiosity, an eye for detail, and a desire to work on a collaborative, close-knit team? Cuyuna Regional Medical Center is looking for a patient-focused and team-oriented Medical Laboratory Assistant (MLA) who works both independently and as a supportive member of our cohesive laboratory team. Acting with patient care at the forefront of their focus, the ideal candidate is inquisitive, motivated, and driven to explore as they seek quality results. As an essential member of the lab team, Medical Laboratory Assistants have strong and effective communication skills and keep the best interest of their patients and teammates in mind while demonstrating the mission, vision, and values of CRMC in all encounters.

  Qualifications:  

• Preference given to completed MLT or MLS program or enrollment in MLT or MLS program upon hire


• Must provide diploma with highest degree obtained (minimum of high school diploma required)


• MLA ASCP Certification required within 2 years of hire

• Follows laboratory rules for optimum quality and patient safety while respectfully communicating helpful ways to improve processes


• Maintains a safe, organized, and well-stocked work area

 

  Specific Responsibilities:  

• Performs CLIA Waived and Moderately Complex clinical laboratory tests


• Responsible for collection, handling, analysis, and reporting of patient specimens following quality control procedures for core and reference laboratories


• Positively identifies patients and specimens using two patient identifiers


• Performs venipuncture and capillary punctures using established procedures


• Able to perform light housekeeping to maintain a safe and clean workspace


• Assists healthcare team members and performs other duties based on role as needs arise
