Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center and Clinics is home to the largest laboratory in NH, providing Pathology and Clinical Laboratory services to DHMC and Clinics physician practices, Dartmouth Health system member hospitals as well as to independent practices and hospitals throughout NH and VT. The department is a leader in process improvement (LEAN/Six Sigma) which has led to a renovated space designed for efficiency of workflow. This position provides high quality products to Pathology to aid in diagnosis. Performs routine tasks and a menu of more advanced tests, such as Immunohistochemistry (including prognostic markers), DIF, Enzyme Histochemistry, Special Stains and Nerve Teasing in a fast paced, high volume laboratory. Values quality patient care, a positive work environment and teamwork.

This is a full-time, 40-hour per week, benefitted, night shift position. DHMC offers a 20% shift differential for the night shift. DHMC and Clinics is offering an $8000 sign-on/retention bonus for this position. *External applicants only and certain conditions apply.

Responsibilities
  1. Performs processing, embedding & microtomy of routine specimens efficiently with highest quality
  2. Performs grossing of specific specimen types if qualified by CLIA regulation.
  3. Performs staining; routine & special stains efficiently with highest quality
  4. Performs immunohistochemistry efficiently with highest quality
  5. Operates and maintains processing and staining equipment
  6. Ensures accurate results by following established quality control practices.
  7. Identifies when a QC problem exists and notifies appropriate technical staff.
  8. Trains in routine areas; processing, embedding, microtomy & staining.
  9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

Three or more years of work experience in a clinical histology laboratory.

HT Qualifications:

Route 1: Successful completion of a NAACLS accredited Histotechnician program within the last five years prior to the date of application for examination.
