Overview

Supervisor is responsible for assisting in the oversight of the staff and the daily operations associated with the Medical Center's case management/social work program. Provides training and support to case managers and social workers, encouraging individual and team development. Participates in development of policies; ensuring that policies and procedures and customer service are constantly monitored, evaluated and supported. Has the responsibility of assisting the manager with ensuring regulatory compliance. As part of the management team, the supervisor assists the manager in fulfilling departmental goals.

Responsibilities

1. Supervises assigned personnel. Participates in performance management of staff members to include coaching, preparation of performance evaluations and performance management process. Initiates disciplinary action as appropriate.
2. Selects, counsels, prepares performance evaluations, and terminates according to policy.
3. Oversees unit scheduling and attendance
4. Reviews the medical necessity and appropriateness of both inpatient and observation patients.
5. Monitors the level of care, length of stay and discharge plans in accordance with state and federal regulations.
6. Maintains compliance and provides education of changing regulatory requirements.
7. Supports discharge planning and transitions of care
8. Develops and updates policies and procedures for the department
9. Performs other duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications

• Strong leadership, communication and computer skills desired.
• Minimum of four years' experience in case management or medical social work.
• Master's preferred or Social Work professional-Masters degree in applicable discipline.

Required Licensure/Certifications

- Requires MSW licensure
