We are seeking a collaborative, energetic, and innovative full-time Physical Therapist Assistant Program Lecturer-As-Needed (LAN) who is committed to student retention and success. The LAN will be responsible for establishing and promoting an effective learning environment to maximize student learning in both the face-to-face and online classroom. They may be assigned to teach various levels of physical therapy in the traditional classroom and/or blended/hybrid/online setting and must be available to teach courses during the evening, weekend, and nontraditional times as needed in the Health and Wellness Division at Delta College. In addition, we seek candidates whose teaching and/or service have prepared them to fulfill our commitment to belonging, equity, diversity, and inclusion (BEDI).

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES AND ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Must have the ability to teach in both a classroom and laboratory setting.
  • The ability to work in a variety of settings and promote student growth and success is essential.
  • Ability to relate to a variety of constituents along with solid pedagogy skills that promote learning.
  • Teach at least 30 equated credit hours annually of Physical Therapist Assistant/ Health & Wellness Division courses, in a variety of settings including day, evening, weekend, on campus, off campus, online and in-person.
  • Demonstrate experience, skills, and commitment to fostering an environment of belonging, diversity, equity and inclusion in student, faculty and staff.
  • Demonstrate a commitment to the mission, vision, and values of Delta College.
  • Demonstrate a philosophy of teaching that provides learning opportunities that meet the needs of all students.
  • Establish and promote an engaging and inclusive learning environment to maximize student learning in both the face-to-face and online classroom.
  • Focus on supporting and assessing student learning and academic achievement to promote student success.
  • Must actively support student retention initiatives that promote program completion.
  • Develop innovative, dynamic, and engaging learning environments that support student learning and success.
  • Collaborate voluntarily and enthusiastically with colleagues in the academic discipline and with other faculty colleagues to develop effective learning experiences for a diverse student body.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of diversity based on the college statement on diversity.
  • Serve the community through outreach activities.
  • Commit to ongoing educational and professional growth.
  • Engage fully in course, discipline, program development, curriculum development and assessment.
  • Attend and actively participate in discipline, division, and college meetings.
  • Capable of using a learning management system to deliver course material.
  • Demonstrate teaching effectiveness which supports student learning and encompasses pedagogies for student success to meet course and/or program requirements.
  • Work in a variety of settings which promote quality learning.
  • Maintain professional development to assure currency within field of practice.
  • Possess excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be available to work evenings, weekends, and spring/summer.
  • Licensed physical therapist or physical therapist assistant in Michigan
  • Minimum 3 years of full-time clinical experience
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Commitment to creating an inclusive classroom climate and designing curricula that foster greater sense of community
  • Demonstrated current knowledge in physical therapy
  • Ability to teach on multiple Delta campuses and online (asynchronous and synchronous)
  • Teaching experience (can include being a clinical instructor)
  • APTA member
  • Master's degree
  • Demonstrated current and ongoing professional growth
  • Experience working with non-traditional students from diverse backgrounds and with varying academic skills.
