POSITION SUMMARY:

The primary purpose of this role is to support student retention and completion efforts of Delta College occupational programs by providing students internship and co-op placement opportunities, provide support for apprenticeship placement and promotion, and serving as Delta College lead for all activities related to external student work experience.

The Workforce Experience Manager will develop and maintain strong, ongoing relationships with area employers and external organizations.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:

  • Work collaboratively with Occupational Programs and Workforce Strategies staff to develop and implement work experience opportunities for students
  • Provide innovative solutions to engaging and placing Delta College students in internships and co-ops in the community while meeting annual engagement goals
  • Responsible to manage and support grants which promote co-op, internship, apprentices and other workforce experiences. This includes the engagement and placement of any students, financial and programmatic reporting as necessary to maintain the grant(s) in relationship to workforce experience.
  • Serve as a college and divisional resource providing workforce experience-related data on industry trends and demands using various workforce platforms like Bureau of Labor Statistics, Department of Labor, Lightcast, and other college-supported platforms, while collaborating with Institutional Research to achieve needed outcomes whenever necessary
  • Collaboratively build employer engagement events with faculty for occupational programs for potential and new students. Examples may include but are not limited to facilitating a departmental open house with admissions team, faculty and employers or providing employer spotlight presentations to classroom of students, or coordination of job shadowing.
  • At the direction of the Apprenticeship Operations Manager, register for and attend community events geared toward 9-12th grade student and adults to promote Delta College work experiences opportunities with apprenticeships/interns/co-ops
  • Develop, maintain, and promote the job posting/event system which connects students to co-op/internship/apprenticeship opportunities
  • Provide oversight and support for the Office Professional during Delta College job fairs which promote internship, coop, apprenticeship opportunities for students
  • Represent Delta College at all relevant activities in the region related to occupational career internship and co-op connections, apprenticeship placement
  • Attend college industry advisory meetings and interact with faculty and industry partners. Deliver updates on regional and national workforce trends and requirements and gather feedback from employers on their employment and work experience requirements.
  • Work collaboratively with the Apprenticeship Operations Manager to ensure Delta is represented at recruitment events for Delta College students and alumni for apprenticeships, internships and employment
  • Develop occupational career-related marketing materials and coordinate the creation and distribution internally and externally for promotional materials for events and activities. It may include but is not limited to high wage/high demand job cards for occupational programs and degree/certificate pathways and workforce experience opportunities
  • Assist college advising staff in supporting the employment needs of students. This involves joining in on workforce experience training, discussing current employment trends, and exploring opportunities for workforce experience.
  • Provide work experiences related copy content to Office Professional who will maintain public website content related to employer internship, apprenticeship and job placement opportunities.

INDUSTRY ENGAGEMENT
  • Collaborate with Workforce Strategies team members and Occupational faculty to cultivate and maintain relationships with industry
  • Work collaboratively with marketing and public relations to develop and implement an annual employer engagement plan which increases the number of occupational students who actively engage in workforce activities including internship, apprenticeships and job fairs
  • Develop and deliver training to businesses to utilize software as a resource to connect with students
  • Develop and build a robust employer partnership outreach program to meet with and engage with regional businesses for the purpose of increasing internship and co-op placement for Delta Students
  • Develop and maintain relationships with regional career center and high school's co-op program leadership for the purpose of developing a pipeline for future Delta College apprenticeships/interns/co-ops
  • Prepare and provide public presentations to industry employers related to workforce strategies services including training, career credentials, student internships co-op opportunities, and occupational programs academic degrees and certificates
  • Attend relevant work experience training and conferences as directed

ADMINISTRATIVE
  • Provide Director of Workforce Strategies all needed reports related to student placement and workforce engagement
  • Assist the Director Workforce Strategies in assessing and evaluating departmental practices, policies and procedures related to job placement and recruitment for employers
  • Provide all relevant data and reports to IR for the purpose of institutional reporting as required
  • Budget management for work experiences activities
  • Serve as lead to recruit and supervise part time student workers in Workforce Strategies to support business needs, job fairs and administrative support duties of department.

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and skills
  • 1 – 3 years of relatable work experience
  • Basic level skills with MS office Outlook, Excel, Word
  • Strong verbal and written communication
