Hybrid Role: Must be able to come on-site periodically and reside a commutable distance from the assigned work location.

Emergency Response: Yes – Must be available to perform a primary assignment in support of DTE's emergency response to storms or other events that impact service to our customers.

Senior ADMS/EMS Network Model Engineer Job-Specific


The Advanced Distribution Management System (ADMS) Network and Energy Management System (EMS) Engineer provides technical support for the day-to-day management of the ADMS network model and execution of change requests for feeder and substation devices. Also, support operations, and coordinate with other teams to perform updates to the network, including electrical connectivity, device settings, SCADA database, and UI updates.
 

Job Summary


The senior-level engineer is responsible for planning and conducting engineering activities. Requires the use of advanced techniques and the application of theories, precepts, practice and disciplines, including practical field experience. Incumbents have the responsibility and authority to make decisions on engineering problems and methods applicable to the resolution of important issues. Participates on and leads teams of field employees, technicians, engineers, and other personnel.
 

Key Accountabilities

 

  • Develops, coordinates, and directs important projects or field engineering assignments with complex features.
  • Performs assigned (or initiates) engineering studies, proposing solutions to engineering-related problems; develops models and analyzes data to support improvement programs, techniques & solutions.
  • Interfaces with outside departments, vendors, suppliers, and reliability entities.
  • Develops or assists in presentations of engineering-related projects to all levels of management & external parties (contractors, customers, etc.).
  • Plans and manages group workflow to meet budgets and schedules.
  • May mentor and provide guidance/direction for less experienced staff.
     
Minimum Education & Experience Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology and a minimum of 4 years of job-relevant experience
     
Other Qualifications


Preferred
 

  • Experience with SCADA or energy management (or related)
  • Recent experience designing, programming, and maintaining high-level control systems
  • Proven work experience in one or more of the following focus areas: ADMS, OMS, SCADA, GIS
  • Knowledge of electrical operations, distribution systems, data management
  • Experience with end-to-end network model maintenance.
  • Experience establishing changeset promotion process for connectivity model of substations, feeders network, and associated SCADA points
  • Experience in reviewing, validating, and updating changes to the substation and distribution connectivity model based on as-built updates or validated corrections, and make manual updates to the substation in ADMS and EMS
  • Experience working with the GIS team to validate and update the distribution network model via the changeset promotion process using GIS extracts
  • Experience in supporting with application of changesets to the core system
  • Experience in rectifying data errors in the network model and SCADA configuration, and providing timely and sustainable solution
  • Experience supporting short-term and long-term requests for model updates
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs, primarily Excel and Word
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management, prioritization, and organization skills
  • Proficient communication and interpersonal skills
