Overview.

The Allen Fairview Texas Chamber of Commerce has launched a search for a Chief Executive Officer. The Chason Group has been retained to assist the Chamber with the executive search.

The Chamber works closely with community leaders to advocate, educate, and connect members for the growth and development of the Allen Fairview business community. With a budget of $600,000 and a staff of three full-time professionals, the Chamber serves as a voice for the business community. The vision of the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce is to be the indispensable resource for Allen, Fairview, and Collin County businesses.

The Allen Fairview Chamber Board is seeking a visionary leader who inspires, collaborates, and understands the needs of a rapidly growing business community. An extremely competitive compensation package is offered for this position, including health insurance, life insurance, retirement, incentive plan and more.

About Allen Fairview.

The Allen Fairview Texas area is a rapidly growing community in Collin County, Texas. Located just north of Dallas, it is considered to be a part of the Dallas-Fort Worth-Arlington Metropolitan area. Collin County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Texas.  Texas has been recognized as the third fastest growing state in the nation. Allen and Fairview, once a small bedroom community, now has over 125,000 residents. The median age of the area is 48 to 49 and it is ranked as one of the best places to raise a family.

Allen and Fairview both offer highly ranked education options for local families. Specifically, Allen Independent School District, as well as the Lovejoy and McKinney Independent School districts, which appeal to many new families.  There is also Collin College which is recognized for their state-of-the-art technology and student outcomes.

For outdoor entertainment, the area is known for Lavon Lake, a 21,400-acre lake that offers beaches, fishing, boating, and camping to residents and visitors. Allen and Fairview also offer over 60 community parks, miles of hiking and biking trails and the recently opened Stephen G. Terrell Recreation Center that offers year-round entertainment options to the community.

The Allen and Fairview communities offer access to a wide range of museums and historical landmarks, theatres, and cultural centers, as well as unique shopping and eatery options. Allen and Fairview Texas are also less than an hour from Dallas, Texas where residents can watch the Dallas Cowboys, visit world class museums, catch a performance at one of the many venues and so much more.

The Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport is less than an hour from the Allen and Fairview area, as well as UT Southwestern Medical Center which was recognized as the number one hospital in Texas and one of the top 20 in the nation.

About the Chamber.

The Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce is poised to grow rapidly with more people and businesses moving to the area. With community partners such as the Allen EDC, the Fairview EDC, and Visit Allen, the potential is immeasurable.

The Chamber is the voice of business in Allen and Fairview and works to make connections for their members to ensure growth and success. Currently the Chamber has over 600 members and as business continues to expand it could realistically double in size over the next five years.  The area has seen over 500 acres of mixed-use development come online in the last several years. There is also the SH 121 Corridor offering 900 acres of mixed-use development; the Allen Gateway which offers 75 acres of mixed-use space and over one million square feet of office and retails space; and the Fairview Commercial Planned Development District just to name a few major expansions for the area.

Advocating business issues at the local, state, and federal levels is of utmost importance for the Chamber. As the communities grow, everyone remaining on the same page will be key for success. Bringing existing and new businesses together for successful relationships is an important role for the chamber. As the exponential growth of the community continues, so will Chamber membership and programs offered. The Board is focused on strong communication strategies, collaboration, and positive outcomes for all business and community members.

About the CEO Position.

The Chief Executive Officer is responsible for all aspects of operations for the Allen Fairview Chamber of Commerce and reports directly to the Board of Directors through an annually elected President. The professional provides vision, strategic direction, and management for the programs and personnel of the organization. The leader demonstrates expertise in strategic planning, program and personnel management, member sales and services, resource development, nonprofit governance and operations, financial management, marketing, public policy and advocacy, and community, economic, and workforce development. The CEO serves as the lead spokesperson for the Chamber and strategic initiatives, representing the organization's interests to the media, elected officials, and all community and organizational stakeholders. Furthermore, the CEO is charged with the proficient management of all resources at the Chamber's disposal, including both team members and volunteer efforts. These resources must be expertly deployed to align with the mission of the organization and to advance the growth and prosperity of the Chamber and community.  The CEO must have the ability to build and show the relevancy of the Chamber to its members and the community.  The professional is recognized as a dynamic leader with high integrity. Key skill sets required include the ability to manage and support current programs; develop new initiatives and collaborative partnerships; and to lead, engage, and commit to include the best diversity, equity, and inclusion practices for the region. The CEO shall serve as secretary to the Board of Directors and the Executive Committee and shall cause to be prepared notices, agendas, and minutes of meetings of the Board. The CEO shall be a non-voting member of the Board of Directors and all committees.

Experience, Education, Other Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in the area(s) of association management, economic development, community development, public relations, public administration, business and/or marketing from an accredited college or university or equivalent experience.
  • A Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management through the U.S. Chamber Institute of Management (IOM) and the professional designation of Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) are highlight preferred. In the absence of these professional credentials, a strong desire to achieve them at the earliest opportunity is the expectation from the Board of the chosen candidate.
  • Three years of executive-level leadership experience with a chamber of commerce or non-profit organization of similar scale and complexity, with demonstrated working knowledge of business, public policy, community development, economic development, event planning and program development.
  • A proven tenure in implementing a visionary strategic plan in collaboration with a diverse and influential body of organizational stakeholders.
  • An innovative, creative, and strategic thinker who has experience in developing relevant initiatives and goals to enhance a region's tax base and a track record of proven results.
