Description

Primary and Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contributes to team efforts by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and supportive manner.
  • Creates/edits models and drawings using SolidWorks software.
  • Creates/edits BOMs using SAP software.
  • Provides system and component analysis using FEA/SolidWorks software.
  • Designs new or redesigns existing various components and assemblies with focus on cost and manufacturability.
  • Assists lab and production personnel with hands-on manufacture, assembly, and inspection of new/revised products (prototypes and first articles).
  • Guides technical activities of designers, technicians, and interns.
  • Adheres to company revision control practices and ISO processes.
  • Interprets specific system and product design requirements which ensures conformance to functional, customer and operations/manufacturing criteria.
  • Researches, tests, develops and/or specifies materials, methods, and/or processes which enhance product quality, serviceability, and profit.
  • Interfaces internally with all facility associates, management, and staff.
  • Interfaces externally with customers and/or vendors for the purpose of furnishing, obtaining and/or clarifying information.
  • Provides engineering program/project technical support to both internal and external customers.
  • Communicates clearly (written and oral) with other company personnel, the customer, and vendors as required.
  • Adheres to all quality and safety standards.
  • Supports other projects and performs duties as assigned.
  • Supports, communicates, reinforces and defends the mission, values and culture of the organization.

Years Experience

 

 

  • 3 - 10 years' experience in similar technical role
  • Prior Engineering internship(s) in a manufacturing environment is highly desired

 

Education

BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience

Experience / Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

  • Application of technical principles/techniques from established practices, as well as a functional knowledge/understanding of mechanical engineering processes, techniques, and practices to quickly/accurately perceive the fit, form, function, and manufacturability of design.
  • Thorough, functional knowledge and understanding of Computer Aided Design application principles. SolidWorks experience preferred.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills; Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to maintain safe work environment
  • Routinely punctual.
  • Ability to offer their own opinions and commentaries while being flexible and responsive to constructive feedback.
  • Ability to perform problem analysis and problem resolution
  • Ability to work a varied schedule; willing to work overtime when necessary
  • Excellent communication skills; able to communicate effectively with management, customers, vendors, and personnel at all levels
  • Possesses strong computer skills with demonstrated proficiency in standard business software packages (e.g., Microsoft Office). Must possess excellent skills with Microsoft Excel and Word
  • Quality orientation and high attention to detail
  • Must be able to read, speak and understand English
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision and in a team environment

 

 Work Environment

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job:

  • Work is accomplished in a typical office environment with adequate environmental (heating/cooling) control. The noise level in the work environment is moderate due to noises associated with computer equipment and environmental control systems. 
  • This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers and filing cabinets
  • Access to operations and manufacturing areas may involve exposure to loud noises, dust, fumes, oils, and fluctuations in temperature

 

 

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Performs all work in accordance with safety and workmanship and good housekeeping specifications
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee alternates between sitting and standing/walking for long periods of time
  • This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), as required per plant rules
