Description

Purpose of the job:

We are looking for a seasoned Corporate Controller who will oversee all aspects of financial management, including accounting, financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in corporate finance, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving financial performance and operational efficiency.


Essential Functions/Responsibilities:

  1. Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements, in accordance with GAAP standards. Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements and reporting deadlines.
  2. Lead the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting efforts. Work closely with department heads to develop budgets, analyze variances, and provide actionable insights to drive performance improvement.
  3. Manage cash flow and liquidity to ensure adequate funding for operational needs and capital investments. Implement strategies to optimize cash resources and minimize financial risk.
  4. Conduct in-depth financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and identify opportunities for cost reduction and revenue enhancement. Provide regular financial reports and analysis to senior management and stakeholders.
  5. Establish and maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. Continuously evaluate and enhance controls to mitigate risks and improve operational efficiency.
  6. Collaborate with external tax advisors to develop tax strategies that optimize the company's tax position while ensuring compliance with all tax laws and regulations. Manage all aspects of tax reporting and compliance.
  7. Serve as the primary liaison with external auditors during annual audits and periodic reviews. Coordinate audit activities, provide necessary documentation and explanations, and ensure timely completion of audit deliverables.
  8. Build and lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship, guidance, and professional development opportunities. Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the finance department.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or relevant field.
  2. A minimum of progressive experience in corporate finance or accounting roles, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or managerial capacity.
  3. Thorough understanding of GAAP principles, financial reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with senior management, department heads, and external stakeholders.
  6. Proven leadership ability, with a track record of building and motivating high-performing teams.
  7. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and financial management software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle)

Preferred Qualifications:

  1. CPA or other relevant qualification
  2. Experience working in a privately held company or entrepreneurial environment.
  3. Public accounting experience
  4. Master of Business Administration or a Master's in Finance.
