Holyoke Medical Center is an independent community hospital that has served the healthcare needs of the Pioneer Valley for over 125 years.# We continue to grow and address the needs of our community through quality and patient-centered care.# We are seeking a Physician Assistant to join our team at the newly formed Massachusetts Institute for Minimally Invasive Spine Surgery and build on an already established practice in the Springfield/Holyoke area.#Currently, we have one attending surgeon and one full-time PA.# We are looking for a full-time PA based mainly in the clinic#but can cross-cover in OR/Inpatient if needed. Surgical experience is not required but would be helpful. Duties include but are not limited to: Developing a strong presence in our clinic to see new patient consults and follow-ups, as well as discussing surgical interventions with patients when appropriate Coordinating and partnering with attending surgeon#on research projects dealing with spinal procedures and outcome metrics Outpatient phone calls dealing with pre/post-operative questions, medication refills, coordination with other care teams, and testing follow up Ordering and interpreting various diagnostic tests such as MRI, CT, X-rays, EMG, etc. in conjunction with attending surgeon To periodically assist attending surgeon as first assistant in surgical cases To provide inpatient care to patients of the#Practice by conducting and properly documenting history and physicals, consults and daily progress notes consistent with the Medical Center#s policies; communicate any new or worsening findings to attending physician involved in the surgical case in a timely manner. To prescribe medications and appropriate therapies with consent of attending physicians and in adherence to applicable Federal and State Requirements, and in accordance to PA Guidelines. To provide accurate and complete information regarding patient care for billing and compliance purposes. To provide reasonable call coverage for the outpatient practice only that includes availability on nights, weekends and holidays, but does not include inpatient, or emergency room call REQUIREMENTS:# Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program; current Physician Assistant Licensure in Massachusetts; current NCCPA certification
