The Clinical RN Coordinator is a Registered Nurse with recognized leadership abilities and sound clinical skills who will actively assist the Director in Coordinating the day-to-day activities of the unit. The Clinical Coordinator takes a leading role in activities in the unit, patient rounding and care, nursing performance improvement, and job performance evaluations (in some units), staffing, scheduling and working with the directors, employees, and preceptors in the orientation and training of new employees. Executes leadership in the following areas: Direct/Indirect Patient Care, Support of Systems, Research, Education, and Professional Leadership. He/she works collaboratively with the nursing staff, medical staff, educators, managers, and all members of the health care team to accomplish the responsibilities outlined below.

Essential Duties:

  • Monitors progress on programmatic activities and budgets identified as appropriate to achieve unit service goals.
  • Oversees the billing process and patient care.
  • Researches, develops, implements, coordinates and evaluates systems designed to address patient flow and clinical quality indicators.
  • Oversees and/or conducts all staff recruitment activities; hires and evaluates staff; provides initial orientation training for all new staff; arranges for ongoing staff training, tailoring such training to meet individual staff needs; and supervises staff or oversees supervision which is provided by subordinates; implements personnel policies.
  • Manages time off requests.
  • Complies with JCAHO and regulatory standards as they relate to the department.
  • Responsible for daily operations of Department, including effective problem solving and decision-making skills and establishes and maintains staff and physician relationships.
  • Supports continuous and ongoing customer satisfaction through the hospital wide service excellence standards and performs as an agent of change and promotes change as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development.
  • Develops and maintains schedule productive to the Department.
  • Delegates duties among staff within their scope of practice as appropriate and maintains staffing schedule.
  • In collaboration with Materials Management oversees inventory control.
  • Critical Role: Conducts morning and/or evening rounds as assigned to coordinate inpatient care, develop plan of care and discharge planning with or without attending physician and other team members.
  • Performs clinic history and physical examinations, presents pertinent information to attending physician including diagnosis and treatment plans
  • Oversees and coordinates discharge of patients.
  • Performs wound care, accucheck, removes drain tubes, and other techniques as appropriate for patient care.
  • Facilitates patient flow by assisting office staff in placing patients in exam rooms, helping patients fill out questionnaire and putting on gowns.
  • Oversees completion of and ensures all of the paperwork pertaining to patient visit are completed.
  • Under the direction of the physician assists with processing orders, procedures, medications, and other patient indicators according to standardized procedures.
  • Communicates with referring agencies, physicians, insurance case managers, home health agencies, pharmacies, patients and families and other entities as appropriate regarding the patient's care.
  • Establishes and maintains staff and Physician relationships.
  • Supports continuous and ongoing customer satisfaction through hospital-wide service excellence standards.
  • Performs as an agent of change and promotes change as an opportunity for growth, learning, and development.
  • Assess the needs of the individual/family, facilitates the development of a plan of care, coordinates services across service sites, provides patient/family education and evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Acts as a mentor and resource to staff, students and house staff involved in caring for assigned populations.
  • Provides for own professional growth through continuing education.
  • Completes all other job duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor's degree Nursing
  • Req 2 years Critical Care experience.
  • Req Must have excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently.
  • Req Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to understand, follow and successfully perform duties, including whole blood collection, and apheresis procedures, in accordance with administrative and clinical policies, regulations and procedures.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master's degree Nursing
  • Pref 2 years Experience in acute care setting as RN.


Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Registered Nurse - RN (CA DCA) Valid California Registered Nursing license.
  • Req Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association
  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The hourly rate range for this position is $47.31 - $88.00.
