Chemist II

SUMMARY This position is responsible to perform quality control analyses of wastewater, used motor oil, solid waste, waste antifreeze and refined oil and engine coolant products under general supervision.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Meets all required qualifications for level I chemist position.
  • Knowledgeable in the operation of the laboratory instruments such as Gas Chromatograph, Mass Spectrometer and Inductive Coupled Plasma.
  • Responsible for calibration and routine maintenance of the instruments under general supervision.
  • Main analyst in charge during weekend and holiday shifts.
  • Perform annual Proficiency Testing Study (PT) under general supervision.
  • Resolve analytical problems.
  • Shall be knowledgeable and comfortable with conducting all wet chemistry analysis and instruments for effluent discharge water.
  • Conduct development and set up of the laboratory test methods set forth by EPA SW-846, Standard Method (SM) and American Society for Testing Materials (ASTM).
  • Perform all incoming sample profiling for facility.
  • Analysis of finished oil products.
  • Responsible for conducting analysis of incoming waste antifreeze and outgoing glycol related finished products.
  • Perform all duties in a safe and efficient manner according to company and OSHA safety guidelines.
  • Other applicable duties maybe assigned at manager's discretion.
