Pay Rate:
~$54,000/Year (commensurate with experience)

Overview:
The technician is responsible for performing QC of manufactured tests, supporting research and development of new tests and assisting in method validation and QA/QC specification development of new tests. The technician will also assist production personnel in making microbiological products and production QC of in-process manufactured products.

Schedule:
Monday – Friday, 1st/Day: Standard Hours

Responsibilities:

  • Executes microbiology laboratory methods per good laboratory practices to test raw materials, in-process samples and finished goods for dietary supplement.
  • Aseptically sample products for microbial testing which include standard plate count, yeast, mold, enterobacteriaceae, coliform, Escherichia coli.
  • Quantifies micro readings to determine level of microorganisms and ensure all products are free of harmful pathogens.
  • Reviews master formula(if it contains probiotics) to determine the compatibility of testing method.
  • Identifies microorganisms by microscopic examination of physiological characteristics.
  • Reports micro test results to ensure conformance to laboratory and document/record control procedures.
  • Ensures that micro-analytical equipment (ATP luminometer, pH meter, analytical balance) is properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Monitors micro laboratory inventory and keeping track of its expiry date.
  • Trains coworkers in aseptic sampling and plating techniques.
  • Records temperature of laboratory incubators and refrigerators daily.
  • Collects water samples from various source points used to manufacture dietary supplements and performs microbial test weekly and monthly.
  • Generates and monitors ATP test results in sure-trend data analysis software.
  • Works with quality assurance and production personnel in root cause analysis to determine possible sources of product contamination.
  • Maintains cleanliness of micro-laboratory at all times.
  • Works with Salmonella Method includes testing of Salmonella and Staph testing.
  • As necessary, performs other related functions of which the above are representative.
